As a deep lover of the folk revival genre and a musician myself, I am absolutely enchanted by the richness of this lady's playing style; she has both inspiring gentleness and firmness on her mandolin. I can't say her voice is really alligned with the old times charm her touch on the mandolin expresses though: I think the hardest to be found nowadays are truly folk voices. It's as if a hint of pop music and its 'mieowing' way of emitting the voice was always there in the background, somehow. I'm sure a more spontaneous singing style would let this lady shine in all of her soul's beauty.

Matt Rollings on piano. A fantastic musician who lifts up and carries this beautiful song. Never takes the focus away from Alison's incredible singing while making the song richer. I would love a whole album with these two working together. A world class performance that we're lucky to be able to relive with this video.

This song is just breathtaking. Allison is a pure soprano. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful. I have seen her in concerts, I am a singer, admire her. She is studied, professional, and makes it appear effortless. Not, a true, dedicated professional, surrounded by gifted, talented musicians and they meld so well, it is just amazing.

What a title! What a beautiful beautiful song? Alison Krauss gained control of every word, lyric and the audience. She sang it better than as originally recorded by Emmylou Harris. Just as what Whitney Houston did to Dolly Parton’s “I will Always Love you” It’s always a privilege to listen to Alison Krauss. She is always the unassuming country music legend. God Bless her.

The song was written by Rodney Crowell, originally recorded by Emmylou Harris and [many] others. Crystal Gayle took it to #1 in ?1982?. Alison Krauss more than does it justice, but I still love Rodney singing it, or singing it together with Emmylou when they were both younger.

I will never EVER forget the first time I heard Abraham, Martin and John. It was performed live by Dion on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour the very week it was released, in 1968. My family and I sat there and cried freely. Our grief for the killings of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bobby Kennedy was so very fresh and raw. Dion sang it with just his gorgeous guitar accompaniment and a choir. I am a great fan of Emmylou Harris. This version is beautiful, but cannot match my memory of Dion's version.
