I believe we are all here to share and no one is an expert the first time they pick up a rod but please do not bank a fish you don't have the gear for, that cat should have been unhooked in the water. Never ever take a picture of a fish standing up, this is basic fish care. This is a great video of what NOT to do. The fisherman stated he was Carp fishing but with a SPOD rod? Its possible but not probable, do not Catfish with SPOD rods, people do do it and do catch fish but they aren't designed for this purpose like a proper catfish rod would be. If you think Cat Rods are expensive, look at the NGT ones and get a reel with a decent drag, SPOD and most Carp reels have a very low drag force as this video shows but like the guy said, he wasn't fishing for Cats, to be fair his yellow boilie kind of backs that up, however banking the fish was irresponsible, the photos were just careless, I hope he has done his research since.

Tested mine yesterday and can confirm it works! Didn't catch owt but it does float and the sections all fit together nicely. Total cost about £16 . I made the "spoon" for the end from an old bottle with the correct thread glued in the end so that saved me a few quid, adding on the float and spoon if bought will tip the price up by another 15 quid ish so for less than 40 quid you would have a 12m pole done. Thanks for the vid in the first place!

Done mine today, i used push on straight connectors rather than the threaded ones, not sure which will be best to be fair but the push ones are a good tight ish fit, any wear can be removed by rubbing with candle wax on the male section, an old method used for worn spigots on fishing rods! Still needs testing but the poles certainly float! I made a float for the end rather than buying one (tight yorkshire man!), i just used an old shampoo bottle, drilled a hole at either end and then pushed to the end and filled with self expanding foam again which will certainly work. As for actually doing the job only time will tell but its 12m long and cost less than £20. One tip though, the "gun" for the gun grade expanding foam is a god send, it allows you to control the flow and it can be cleaned to re-use which you cant do with the cheap throw away tins. Hope this helps others
