Had to learn how to use a similar machine in high school back in the 70's -- though the slide rule was the principal tool of computation. Managed to find one quite recently, just for fun these days. Very similar though the operation of the various clears is different.

I have unplugged an external HDD while i was locked on a screen "D: analysis and recovery: 100%" which started automatically on boot. Now connecting the drive freezes any process that tries to gain access to it(even Windows file explorer), and running chkdsk /f on It takes like 999 hours lol. What can be the problem, can swapping pcb be helpful in my situation? Thank you

Could just be a corrupt file system. Try reading it on Linux.

Now get another one and take it apart so you can do a video on how it works inside. (As much as it would be cool and I’d love to see how it works mechanically rather than in terms of how it’s operated, this is not a serious post)

I have another video showing the inside as it operates :)

Why wouldn't you just start with the leftmost digits lined up during division? A division (with quotient ≥ 1) is never possible if the divisor has more digits left of the decimal than the dividend.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you're referring to when I did 3000-13000 at 6:11 it was just for demonstration purposes

Honestly I was kind of surprised at how simple it was for you to use this thing. I wish I had a mechanical calculator, they’d fit right in with my typewriters!

I need to do this. Mine is a WD 1 TB REV A 2060-771289-005. WHat other numbers need to match? Or is a PCB with this revision number bgood enough? Thanks
@jdigi787 ай бұрын
If you can match those numbers that's good. Different revision numbers may work but always try to get the exact same one.

@@jdigi78 Thanks for replying. What about the DCM (drive configuration matrix), LBA (logical block addressing) numbers etc. I'm able to fairly easily find matching revision numbers. One last question. Have you used the technique in the video more than once? In the video which numbers of yours matched?
@jdigi787 ай бұрын
@@hfakoor1190 just match the model and revision of the PCB. I've done it a half dozen times with success on all but one drive.
