Its their environment if theres plenty of weed cover ive seen plenty loving the shallow water plus if a lake is shallow they are used to it.Carp can be spooked in shallow or deeper water by noise ect .

In my experience they are only ever uncomfortable when exposed to angling pressure . Otherwise alot of their time is spent in the warmest shallowest water for example close season every fish is in the edge . Other than otters there isnt really any other predators for a carp that size .

Scared of shallow water no of course not its where they live there home but yes you can clearly see when your on a syndicate that you get used to the carp know exactly whats going on .oh yes and others i dont think will help carp know the score .

Many years ago when I 1st started fishing we used 3oz inline leads with tubing a supple braid hooklength and a double 15mm bottom bait in a silty estate lake up north and we used to fish up to a island as close as we could so it would bomb in then we pulled back to un plug it. Caught plenty of fish

I think the presence of the camera cannot be overlooked. When they made the Korda films on Welly and getting a fish here and a fish there, apparently ( I wasn’t there) somebody smashed the ass out of them in the open water. I bet if Tom was fishing that lake without the camera he would catch more. Also I think it’s not just the camera but also the circumstance of fishing with a camera?
