for 3d printing the 3mm rods (not the 2 axles) can just be printed directly in the 2 gears. plenty strong enough and so much easier. i've already made 4 this way. they are fantastic looking.
@RazaXMLАй бұрын
Finished building my first one. Tweaked a bunch of things like printing the bushings directly onto the gears, including a 3 step bushing on the 32 tooth gear. Otherwise just a few tweaks where alignment was off just a little bit. Works perfectly and looks great! Oh and here's a reaming trick I use when you want a no friction/no play fit like these gears. Drill out the hole with a 3mm drill bit, then take a scrap piece of 3mm rod and dremel a few scratches down the length. chuck that in a drill and use it as a reamer. It removes 1 or 2 100's of a mil and the gears will spin silky smooth with zero play.

Very cool as always. I enjoy seeing the new design. I like the pendulum Electro mechanical setups. I imagine a small solar panel and capacitor, to get through the night, would make this infinite powered. If it runs for 3 months on a AA, I mean, that thing sips power. Perhaps a joule thief circuit so it could run on "dead" batteries that don't deliver enough voltage to run most devices, sub 1.2v. Makes me wonder how low the pendulum mechanisms operate at. So after 3 months when it stops working, what is the voltage of the AA battery?

Hello Brian, I love this one. Are plans available for it. I couldn’t find it on your web site. I live in San Diego, CA and have built a number of Clayton Boyers clocks. I’m currently working on a half scale version of his Swingtime clock, all 3D printed. My wife would love this one in her kitchen. Let me know if or when it might be available. Thanks, and really enjoy your YT content and your web site. Bob.
