OMG-- I Love this Tailor!! Wondering where he is located, so I can take a few of my women's suits to him... Love the colorful lining prep and matching contrasting thread idea. Some off-the-rack jackets I own have that feature--but only a few. My favorite Italian tailor (in Hoboken) retired to Italy. Hoping I can visit Mr. Bucco in NJ...

Do you guys recommend high arm holes on someone who’s over weight? Or is it only reserved for slim suits?

How do you give an off the rack suit functional holes? It seems to me that you would somehow have to add a placket to the inside seam of the jacket that the buttons would be sewed to.
@pamelaannfuller9410 Жыл бұрын
Yes. But I think that is possible. Note the contrasting placket on the inside of the blue jacket at 1:50. But if the cuff is not cut super wide, then you'd have to have a seam to extend the inner placket, where the buttons would be sewn. (The tailor might not like that...) But one could add it, and still achieve that "richer" look on a more casual jacket. Hear what he says around 4:00 through 4:30. Maybe having that inner seam might not work... Love his work!!! It's gorgeous.

My husband got a little too big corduroy coat the arm hole fits lower, but. he doesn't want me to raise it because it would lose the length of the sleeve. what can I do so it doesn't feel weird from the front of the arm hole.?
@rayadisurya73433 жыл бұрын
I would say just do a little bit, half an inch? My question: if an armhole is made bigger, does the suit sleeve get longer?
@jeofreyabalos69973 жыл бұрын
This is very informative, but I hope you could also give some tips on how to come up with an ideal armhole size. For example, if my exact armhole size is around 16 inches, what would be ideal armhole size for my suit?
@rayadisurya73433 жыл бұрын
i feel like if the armhole is too high, a slight body movement would produce wrinkles in the suit sleeve. The best is enough room for armhole.

This guy knows what he’s talking about. Super informative. I wish he showed how to raise that arm hole on a jacket. I can’t seem to find any information on that. I’m petite and I have to have my clothes altered. Wish he could be my teacher.

If you make it custom you can reduce the arm hole. Reducing the armhole on a jacket that is already made is not difficult but does disrupt the pattern. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions 973-945-5859

Brothers, always starch cotton shirts or you will look like a slob. Use light starch for casual shirts and dark colors, and medium or heavy starch for dress and formal shirts. Starch will sometimes accumulate but this is easily remedied simply by washing a shirt before you send it to your laundry. A shirt that itches is a cheap shirt, starched or unstarched. Unless you are traveling, do not have your shirts folded since fabrics will wear more quickly along the fold lines. When putting on your tie, slide it under the collar instead of breaking the collar upward--that will reduce wear at the fold. I have all of my custom-made shirts starched, and they last for many years. Of course, they are made with two-ply, high-count cottons, not cheap one-ply cottons. Expect to pay at least $200 for 100-count cotton, and as much as $600 for 300-count Sea Island cotton. When possible, ask your shirtmaker to order enough fabric so that you have some on hand to replace the collar and cuffs. Some of my shirts have lasted ten years with replaced collars and cuffs. Another way to prolong the life of an expensive custom-made shirt is to always wear an undershirt, since perspiration is corrosive. One last point: Custom-made shirts use linings that you can't iron by hand, and must be professionally laundered using a "crush," the machine that presses a wet shirt and dries it simultaneously.

Great advice 👍 better than any video out there ! Oh , you have to be a rich man to afford $ 600. worth shirt , not to mention the cost of suit, shoes and accessories to go with this shirt.
