My rectangle did not populate any ideas why this might have happened?

Hi. The issue will be in your layers panel. Your rectangle needs to be inside of the data merge layout layer to populate. Just drag your rectangle and drop it on top of the data merge layer and it will work correctly. I should have mentioned in the video that you need the data merge layer selected when adding content to duplicate it. 🙂 hope this helps.

Thank you for your video! I really appreciate the way you explain things - it’s very clear and easy to follow. Unfortunately, I can’t see the “Data Merge” option in my dropdown menu; the list ends with “vCard.” Is there something I need to unlock or enable first? All the other functions related to merge fields seem to work normally. My Version: Affinity Publisher 2 2.5.6 Thank you for your help!

Hi. It's currently only available in the 2.6 beta version at the moment. You can download the beta version for free using your affinity account via their website if you want to try it out. Hopefully it will be officially released in an update in the coming weeks?

Hi By default it should already be placed on the left hand side panels. However, if its not there, you will find it in the "window" menu on the top menu bar.

Thanks - very helpful. I played with the "Relative to" parameters, and managed to make a 1 cm line above each Heading 2 in the document, by setting the "Right - relative to" parameter to "Column", and adjusting the indent to -X mm (adjust to taste).

Another great tutorial!! Just wanted to share some FYI that I tripped across a few months back. As opposed to resizing the image this way 3:37 after it's dragged onto the canvas... Choose the center point on the 'Transform' tab along with having the width & height linked - All you have to do is just type in a smaller number into either dimension (W or H) and wahlah, your image is immediately centered right there where you dropped it and is pretty close to the size that you need it to be.

Can you use data merge on the QR code? We want speaker website URLs on the QR codes. 300 speakers so ideally don't want to copy and paste for each one

If you're using the same website URL then you can just apply that URL to the QR code in the original design, and that will copy the same QR code URL to each of your generated pages. If they all require different URL addresses, then unfortunately you'll have to manually do that one by one as data merge doesn't work with QR codes.
