Lack of funding and maintenance is the only problem with tower blocks anywhere in the UK ! The flats were generally spacious and when first built the height of modern living . It’s sad they have been left to rot and demolished 👎🏻 especially when there is a UK wide housing shortage 😡

@jim ross red road, Sighthill, gallowgate,sandyhills, pollock, Govan off the top of my head. I used to live in Sighthill and was kicked out then moved into a 9 storey flat in Maryhill which was worse.

Lot of ill informed rubbish spouted about high flats in Glasgow. In many many cases the residents were delighted to move from terrible conditions into theses castles in the sky. Its v sad to think that so many of the buildings shown here are GONE, knocked down rather than restored with a bit of imagination. Shame on you Glasgow modern council. Sell off the land, pocket the money seems to happen everywhere Great film.

Its sad the transitions. Glasgow is going through. Going from a high town to low level housing projects. You no longer have that pilots eye view of the city. Every high rise in Glasgow I know of have all been scheduled for demolition or already been demolished. It's also good since buildings tend to decay within a 40 year range. I know of buildings and already have that old building smell, carpet stains and growing moldy, electricity and air conditioning problems, dim lighting, plumbing problems and cracked concrete. That's just 20 year old buildings. Red Road must be worse if it were twice as old.

But at least I have pride in what I do. what do you mean by you give nothing?????

@MsLiz50 and also the council doesn't have money because so many scroungers that don't work. wondering if your one of them? are you?
@MsLiz5013 жыл бұрын
@MsLiz50 how old are you because you seem like your very young and your the idiot talking to people like that. If you know the true facts, the council are trying to make housing better for people, don't get me wrong nothing wrong with flats if they are kept properly and have decent people in them who care about them. but high rise flats are no good and they have to pull the lot down, but anyway if you cannie talk nice then you shut it.
@MsLiz5013 жыл бұрын
@catholicsrthepeople I'm certainly no snobby cow and i actually live in a council estate, but fact is these flats should all be pulled down as people should have a decent standard of living and as for your lanuage you need to learn how to be nice to others, that talk don't make you look cool at all.
@annemariecandyflip65313 жыл бұрын
Agree

I've lived in high rise flats most of my adult life, and I've always liked it. Some places I've lived had problems with damp, and some had problem tenants, but 9 times out of ten, most high rise tower blocks are nice places to live.

Is it just me....but I can't believe itś nice to live in such places......too many people stored on each other, crampy, damp, enormous council estates in bad condition and way too expensive......I watched Red Road Flats, many videos and stories seen and I think it's crazy...that not living, that's called surviving in hell
