I'm working on polishing my first children's story to be critiqued before I begin querying, and I have a couple of questions: Do you need to have your other stories critiqued and edited, other than any self edits? Do all your manuscripts have to be the same type of book? If the first work I would like to get published is a picture book, but I'm also working on an early reader/chapter book, would that be suitable to submit if an agent says "What else do you have?" Thanks!

For picture books, you should have at least 3 manuscripts polished and ready to go. That means they've been fully self-edited and through as many rounds of peer critiques as you can handle. Basically, they should be as ready as you can make them. For the 2nd question, yes, you can totally have a different type of manuscript ready too, as long as it's kid lit, and as long as that agent is open to that type of submission. (Check their wishlist).

Will non-verified reviews hurt my book rank? Also, I would like to order author copies and mail physical copies to my launch team. I can only order the author copies after the book is published. Do you know if it will hurt my rank if the book is secretly published at first until I announce it a week later? Does Amazon reward traction right off the bat or is it ok if there is an influx of traffic a week later? (Does that make sense?) Should I unpublish it during that lag time while readers are preparing their reviews, social posts, etc. then republish?

Non-verified reviews are fine! The more reviews, the better! As for your next question, yes it will hurt your book if you "release" it, but don't start promoting right away. You only have the first two weeks or so to catch the attention of the algorithm. This is why we recommend getting a few copies printed at a local printing company (Check out Formax in St. Louis) to have on hand for promotional reasons before release - not author copies. Or, even better, just send your launch team digital copies via email.

I also write and a author i have written 12 books on Bribooks and from my experience it is a great platform to write a book and it is totally everyone it is nice and I will like it you can also buy my book " Riya great Pyramid Puristy". Actually this story is about a girl name riya find the treasure of the great Pyramid and you will like it very much ❤😂

Wow! That is so encouraging. I've wanted to be a writer all my life. I've submitted a few things but had them rejected and somewhere in my 50's I gave up. At 62 I'm driving my grandson to primary school daily and I'm feeling all the old yearnings. I love the energy you bring to this. You're very kind to put this out there. Thanks. I'm motivated now. 😁😃

This is so helpful as an illustrator who wants to tell her own stories. Making illustrations is its own form of storytelling, and using this method, even visually, helps so much with maintaining a good pace and story beats that really punch!
