That Mal you rolled with (think it was second dog) is a tough little SOB. Remained engaged even when stimuli became heavy and dark when you mounted him. Nice.

I noticed the Belgian malinois bite was not in properly- how does one ensure a "deep" bite..

@caninetrainingsystem Жыл бұрын
The helper reacts to the dog's actions to deepen his grip on equipment and the dog learns that driving into the bite elicits a response from the helper rather than the dog simply hanging onto the bite with no effort to improve his grip.

0:12 The agitator is petting the dog that is on his sleeve and still has all of his fingers? Can someone kindly explain?
@caninetrainingsystem Жыл бұрын
The dog has a full committed grip on the suit. There is some tension on the bite as he is on a back-tie and the hand isn't threatening- the dog is on top of the decoy. The dog is where he was targeted to bite and he is committed to that bite- he is "winning". He is being praised by the handler and is performing as he is trained to in this scenario.

There are 346 minutes or 5 hours and 46 minutes of instructional video in the 4 video series. This is an excerpt of 1 video, #3 in the series, that's just shy of 5 mins! Your questions are more than adequately addressed in the videos. Those questions are covered in detail in the videos, both correct and incorrect fitting suits, bite placement. Detailed descriptions are located on their respective pages. podium-view.caninetrainingsystems.com/programs/training-the-police-and-military-working-dog-helper-with-franco-angelini-video-1-2-3-4-set

Excellent video..... What about "bite placement" ...? Is there any truth in "the sweet spot" is a bite just above the elbow ???
@caninetrainingsystem3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gus, thanks for your comment. Bite placement is important and the goal is that the dog is not avoidant of any area of the body. The most challenging bites, generally speaking, are core bites, "inside". All of this and more is covered in the series. Thanks!

The thing is how do you make him sit when he finds the odor the first time
@caninetrainingsystem5 жыл бұрын
The shaping of the sit is taught in a different video. There are a few ways to do it, you can place the target box on a chair to help facilitate the sit. It’s all in the 1 hour 28 minute instructional video here: www.caninetrainingsystems.com/product/V-KROY-NW-1/Training-Through-Pictures-with-Dave-Kroyer--Nose-Work-1-The-Indication-DVD/

The cutting edge in detection dog training has long been led by a good friend of mine Randy Hare. Randy is releasing a new set of training videos. For those of you running narc or explosives dogs, you will benefit from these videos. If you are a detection dog handler or run a cross trained dog and you are not yet aware of Randy's work, you really need to educate yourself and open your mindset to Randy's skill set. Randy has trained with me at my conferences, and he is one of those trainers who I respect very highly. I couldn't recommend him more. - Bob Eden www.policek9.com

Fantastic video! I was looking at your site and noting that there are only three scents used in the training kit. I'm not looking to do competitive nose work with my dog. I'm looking at more of a search and rescue application. I know this is the starting point, however is there a transition to giving a specific scent and then having the dog search out the specific scent? Is the same process once I gotten past the indicator and other various distractions?
@caninetrainingsystem9 жыл бұрын
+Adrian Massi i Adrian, this title in the series, "The Search", directly deals with what you're asking about. It will be released soon. Also, the Advanced Nose Work Kit contains 5 scents but you can use any odor in the detection boxes. The technique is great for narcotics, biologicals, explosives, cadaver, bed bugs etc. It's the technique, not the target type that is critical and as an Indication first methodology, it yields professional results in a very, very short time.
