Hey I have been watching a lot of acting videos because I did acting classes with many casting directors and at the end they got me and other people to audition for an agent and u fortunately I didn’t get the agent and tbh I was really upset but then they said that there is an event called the industry network and it is set in LA and up to 100 agents or managers etc are gonna be there to watch people. To get there I had to send an essay on why I think they should pick me out of the many people going to LA. I did and I got opportunity to go to LA and I wa so excited but that only starts on January 16-21 2025 and I just keep on thinking that acting isn’t my thing or that I won’t get an agent Because I’m not good enough or anything to do with the way I act or my features so I’ve been really wondering what if i spent all this money to travel from London(i live in London) to LA just to get a respond that I didn’t get an agent or that I have absolutely no chance of becoming an actor

so basically is it saying to find a monologue that isn’t based on a play or movie, etc and make up your own characters for the monologue?

How should you edit your demo reel and should you have an introduction for it? If so what should you say?

i know this video is a few months old, but you should see if there are any film festivals in your city that need actors. there are 48 hour festivals, one take challenge festivals, etc. and that is a quick way to get a credit and reel footage!

So glad I found your channel, I began acting training this year with 0 experience, ending 2023 with 7 classes under my belt, excited for 2024!

(13:39) (I'm also a 20-something) 2023 was kind of a rocky year for me but in mostly a mental/emotional way instead of bad things happening (i have a whole saga of trying a natural medicine for depression because i didn't do all the research i should have). It has been a year of a lot of growth, self-discovery, and figuring out what my main goals in life should be. Pretty sure I want to continue on a creative path, but the school that's close to me doesn't have many options for creative degrees, and not sure about the random projects going on in the area, yet, so i may just have to try and build up a portfolio on my own. i'm still trying to figure out what creative PATH i'd like to focus on, though, cause i'm interested in many different things, like filmmaking, acting, youtube, music, painting, animation/game design, writing... 😆maybe i'll do it all and schedule my weeks/months accordingly, and try and keep super organized and disciplined about it. that's where i am right now.

(currently at 7:03) I, personally, loved your social media rant!! There are SO many people and "creators" trying to gain views and subscribers online these days just because they want an "easy," or "fun" job. It is so refreshing when I see people like you making and posting stuff and trying to remain authentic about it rather than being unapologetically "on the grind". I'll admit, it's tempting (for me, at least) to fall into that grind mindset and post things just for the sake of posting something, and sometimes I will, but I always try to put my fun and enjoyment of creating FIRST, and do what I think is fun instead of worrying about the analytics all the time.

My year has been satisfactory.

This year was one of the best years of my life. I started my acting career and started dancing more consistently. I'm currently working as a customer service officer again, not really excited for that but we have to do what we have to do, right. I also took the decision to go study acting in LA, and my visa got approved! I'm scared though. I know it's expensive and that is the thing I'm worried about the most. I know some people there, kind of, but they are not friends so I'll be there on my own and it makes it scary to not have anyone who can help you out. I just hope that everything turns out well because I really want to live a life that makes me happy, and I know that going there will help in that. I hope you are doing well! This was a lovely video! Glad to see you posted again.

I'm so confused. I watched this to see your example of a monologue but it was never added. Like, I was hoping to see someone explain it, then do it, so I can be like "oooooh, I get it." Am I missing something???

I also feel im running out of time. Not for a kind of role. Im just running out of time. Im back in my home country and here there is so little acting gigs I can submit myself. I sent emails to managers and agencies here and had no answer back. I also have no actor friends here. Im just feeling a little blue. Congratulations on getting an agent!!
