One of the best folks ever to play the game. A poised performer, a Zorro, a musketeer... not a chess player... like all those foosball technocrats nowadays...

I always am a little hurt that Terry doesn't mention my name and the player that brought the shot back from an Arizona Tournament, Sparky. Terry was at my arcade Tornado Shelter in LaMesa California. David Gummeson was 1 of my roommates, who he did mention. He did mention his motorcycle accident and when I tell people the story, I say this is one of the factors that made him great. It wasn't the settlement as much as while he was rehabbing in his full leg cast, he practiced foosball every day. Hanging out with him while he was doing this, I realized that because he was left-handed and spent this amount of time working the 5 bar, he now had was the best 5 bar I'd ever seen. Now introduce Sparky. He drove back from Arizona and wanted to show everyone at my arcade the new shot he found out there. He called it the wrist rocket, and we eventually called it the rollover. Terry saw that and asked if he could stuff the goals on one of my ten tables to practice and I said "Of course". This completed Terry. Now his non dominant hand had a shot he mastered and nobody could stop. Paired with his 5 bar he became the best the world had ever seen. Which reminds me of a funny story. Evan, that you saw in this video and Lofredo, that Terry called a good friend were all playing in a 3500 limited event. Best 2 out of 3 and it came down to the last point. I don't remember how many times I blocked terry to prevent a loss but I would guess 5 to 11. Now you have to remember nobody blocked Terry's shot better than 25%. So I kept clearing to Evan and he kept missing. I told him. Evan come on how many times are you going to make me block Terry's shot? He laughed and said I know it's amazing and it has me in a panic to score because nobody blocks that shot. So Terry gets it again and to be honest I don't recall how it went in. It bounced in or Terry shot it with his 5 bar, but we lost. So after the match Todd Loffredo comes over to me and says. Id like to play 3500 with you in the future. I said Great. He said, "You just have to teach me how you blocked that shot". I said "Sorry, Terry is a good friend can't do it". I always think. If I would have told him my secret, Terry would never have gone on to be as great as he was. I did have a "trick" you see Terry practiced everyday at my arcade and I learned a secret. That's mine and until Terry quits foosball 100% I will never tell it to anyone.

I also have to add this. I feel people underestimate just how intelligent Terry is. I marveled at his mind. When I tell the story I always said he had a photographic memory. His mind is a sponge. He would categorize everything about the game. Once he saw a shot or defense, he had it cataloged under the name of the player he saw use it first. So He would call out "Garret" defense. ect. So when he played someone he already knew how to beat them as soon as he saw what they were setting up or what they did. Id also like to mention That David Gummeson liked Terry. In fact, he freely gave Terry all the knowledge he had and would teach him. I always recall at this point of the Story as Todd Loffredo was #1 and David Gummeson was # 6 in the world at this time.

Todd is telling the truth when he says it's not easy to adjust competing on the different tables. And still winning. I've only competed on 2 tables . And I had a good partner and got 2 big titles in the 90's with wins on 2 different tables ( Dynamo & Tornado) and that was difficult enough for sure. But Todd was talking about like 7 different surfaces to be winning on wow ... That's totally impressive to me . I really like competing against and with the legends from that era especially , respectfully..

wow after hearing her honest and completely accurate(i.m.o) belief regarding the value or lack of value for various "wannabe"-"titles". lol.. I absolutely have gigantic respect for Liz as a straight up competitor!! Plus I respect her ability to avoid a debate about it with him. If somebody needs to genuinely ask that question about why she doesn't acknowledge various labeled "titles" : then( with all respect due) the chances are that a person asking that question isn't near her level of competitiveness ,talent, or glaring honesty. And I totally agree with Liz on the this topic but I also feel that those who disagree in a respectful form surely are entitled to their opinions. But personally; I will always continue to be aware of the Fact that Real Recognizes Real .And if that is accompanied with a certain amount of general skepticism on my behalf, I choose that over any amount of False Confidence. Thanks for the video. And I thank you Liz.
