I just finished binging all of your Turok playthroughs and had a fun time. Side note, there was a leak from the Epic Game Store showing that Saber Interactive has an untitled "Turok" game registered on the platform. This happened a couple of months ago. I'm really excited. Saber Interactive is the same devs who made Space Marine 2 recently. So I have high hopes.

Oooh, I'm definitely interested in that! Though I'm hoping it'll be in some way connected to the original Turok games and not that 2008 "reboot" lol Speaking of which, I'm also hoping for a Turok Evolution remaster someday! Always wanted to play it on the PC after playing it on the Gamecube so much in my high school/early Uni days lol

When Aftershock was first released I was weirded out by lack of detail on some places, for example this bike map. Turns out, there's hard coded limit of 16k walls and it's all even more impressive as it turns out almost every single map in IF+Aftershock squeezes every bit possible and at the same time manages to look and play good. Fantastic game, sad that it doesn't have as much attention as other boomshoots, almost no-one mentions it. And then nu 3D Realms dropped that terrible sequel happened too...

Yeah I had high hopes for Phantom Fury, but when I saw the words "Slipgate Ironworks", I tempered those hopes... for good reason :P

It's funny, those Protectors are so reference-heavy I can't tell if having a bunch of vocal lines, four syllables long of the form "X-Y-Z-ate!", is just to not steal from Doctor Who's Daleks ("Ex-ter-mi-nate!") entirely, or if it's a deliberate nod to the various Dalek parodies and ripoffs like Marvel's Dreadlox ("In-cin-er-ate!") that almost invariably have some kind of four-syllable robotic war chant. (In fact, look up the cover of Power Man and Iron Fist #79 some time and compare them to the Chopping Mall killbots. Head's a bit different but they otherwise look like they came from the same factory.)

I wouldn't be surprised if the Chokaworld level here and the dialogue about it from Zachary the Finder is a reference to the infamous Chip n' Dale: Rescue Ranger's episode: The Case of the Cola Cult (and yes, it is literally about what the episode name says).

Laughing Toms got crazy trying to reach that damned alcove switch! Goddamit, I can't fit into that alcove regardless of pressing crouch button! How do you make a crouch jump? UPD: okay, I made it. The trick was in releasing the jump button before hitting the crouch button.

NGL the crowbar upgrade is worth it due to how much damage from a Heavy swing you have a better chance of 1 shotting things that does not have the health to survive a single hit from a upgraded crowbar

If memory serves, you take it to the guy in the Uptown portion of the Prosperity settlement who hangs out in the elevated trailer. I don't quite remember what the reward is for doing so though :p

According to the Wiki, Hard Reset actually takes place three years before the events of Ashes 2063 in 2060. That was also the vibe I got from the lore revealed in 2063 and Afterglow, that it had been a year or more since the General and his military team tried to get into the Spire to disable the nuclear codes protocols for Athena to prevent anyone from using them and only barely got back out with some casualties. The brief secret Spire map in Afterglow had the bodies of some of the General's men and is where you get the military rifle early after all.

witch weapon would you say is better the scope attachment on the modular rifle from hard reset or the Junker musket fully upgraded from Afterglow

Oooh, I'm definitely going to have to go with the Junker Musket, fully upgraded. Granted I would take both in my arsenal if I could. The Modular Rifle with my choice of upgrades for CQB to midrange combat, and then the Junker Musket railgun mod for sniping. That being said, I hope the Battle Rifle from Dead Man Walking comes back in Episode 3 LOL

I did! Actually finally getting around to playing through Legacy of Rust on GZDoom now. Ran into an issue on Spirit Drains where the monsters in 2 of the 4 monster closets in the final fight don't wake up for some reason, but other than that, it's all running great. And doing pretty well on my end. Next playthrough debuts this coming Wednesday, October 2nd :D

Small tutorial for people that like to permanently enable Sector Dark Mode and do not want to do it by hand every time they open the game: in "gzdoom.ini": simply add a line under "[Doom.ConsoleVariables]": gl_maplightmode=3

I'm pretty sure you have to stay and help fight off the haunts to get the good ending for this settlement, if you hop on your bike and run off you get the bad one. I think that's where I screwed up my first time.

I didn't even realize on my first play though I could talk my way past the front gate, since every bandit with that model had attacked on sight so far. My one big complaint with afterglow is I wish this was made clearer.

Vostyok has mentioned in the Ashes Discord server that he does plan on giving Afterglow a pretty significant update in the future in order to do just that. He apparently has pretty big plans for the entire second hub to try and make it as clear as possible what the best route will be and how the player should go about doing it. I didn't even know how to do the "best" route until I practiced this game again for the recording and thought to myself "Hmm, how can I make it so the Water Baron doesn't chide me and so that Prosperity doesn't get turned into a ghost town by the end?" Thus, how I figured out this run lol

I wish the dialog was a bit clearer, but at least I can hear you clearly enough. Great video and I love this game. Once I'm up and running again I'll have to look for it.

Yeah I think what causes that is there's no separate volume settings for dialogue and music or dialogue and sound effects, so if you turn one down, you turn down the other, or some kind of weirdness. I didn't think to mute the music to get the dialogue to sound more clear during the time of recording :P
