Greetings. Isn’t it easier to follow the option recommended by Synology and Jellyfin, which involves installing it through the image? I see that this way is simpler and less complicated. What advantages does the method you’re showing have compared to the one recommended by Synology and Jellyfin for installing it on a Synology NAS?

This is a great video. I have had jellyfin up and running for a little while, so I'm just using this as a reference to allow remote access. I think I was able to follow along with your instructions for the most part. I set up the ddns, the wildcard certificate, the reverse proxy, assigned the certificate to my domain, and set up port forwarding on my router. When I try to access it though, I get a connection timeout. Any idea where I may have gone wrong with this?

Good video with easy explanations. I have one problem though, whenever I turn wireguard "ON" on any of my clients, they lose internet connection. I thought this WireGuard connection would for instance link my phone to my NAS so I can enter remote apps like Qbittorrent ?

I've watched this and several other videos on the subject and none seem to successfully show accessing services on the syno NAS even though the server is setup on the NAS. Is this an iptables, firewall, or routing issue with the gateway?
@digital_aloha6 күн бұрын
In my set up, once connected to WireGuard, I was able to access the NAS just fine (connected to DSM) and was able to access Docker containers/projects running on the NAS. I have another Synology NAS running on my LAN and was able to connect to that system as well. I'd say if you aren't able to get to services anywhere on your LAN then you probably aren't connected to WireGuard properly and you should check on your router and firewall rules. Hope that helps and best of luck in getting your WireGuard setup working properly.

I'll look into creating a video in the near future on the new version and features of wg-easy (including setting up bcrypt password hashes). Thanks for pointing out the recent update. I haven't looked at the project for a few months.
@hal-rekabi67245 күн бұрын
@@digital_aloha I Figured it out. took a while trying to understand bcrypt and the instructions on the wg-easy github were confusing (were using Container and not Docker etc.) so an Online bcrypt generator with a cost factor (round) of 10 worked. instead of using PASSWORD=, use PASSWORD_HASH=, then use the Hashed of the base password (eg. Wire123 would be $2a$10$7KVswtv716.pGZRGDVFlcOtNpFwLHNcbLjpVNutXnqjRzBgAORYL6, however when using the password in the YML you have to add extra $ whenever there's a $ in the hash (so each $ becomes $$) this means PASSWORD_HASH=$$2a$$10$$7KVswtv716.pGZRGDVFlcOtNpFwLHNcbLjpVNutXnqjRzBgAORYL6 then when logging in to the Wireguard GUI use the base password eg. Wire123. In all honesty I have no idea why they pushed this ? extra security? One thing though... is there a way to auto update this instead of having to wipe it out and create a new YAML project? like updating the Image?

But does have some issues on other email systems. some will let it go through. Others mark it as possible Spam. and GMAIL will not receive it. but you can send mail to the Synology server. over all though im statisfied for now. EDIT: my ISP issued a static IP. So i did not need to worry about that. But it did complicate the setup a bit.

FYI!!! There is a minor Bug in DYNU's pasting of the DKIM key. To fix this just go to the line ----END RSA PRIVATE KEY ------ place the Curser at the end of the line and hit the Delete key 1 or 2 times. Pasting places blank spaces and will cause it to fail. This will Fix it. Do not hit the back space, just the delete key.

First time trying up to set up something like this. Thanks a lot for your guidance! So far I only managed to receive emails to gmail from NAS. Having issues with receiving emails on NAS. I must mentioned that so far I have not setup DDNS. Do I get it right - you need DDNS to avoid manually adjusting your host's IP everytime your NAS restarts/shuts off? Also, are Dmarc and PTR a must have DNS records in the long run? For example if I plan to use NAS as a temporary production setup?

@digital_aloha18 күн бұрын
Not sure how to help with this? The instructions were mainly to get your NAS to recognize the USB Ethernet Adapter. If it does see it correctly then I would double check other things like the ethernet cable you are using or your switch/router. Also, maybe see what happens after a reboot? I've seen reboots fix odd issues like you are having from time to time. Good luck!!

I can send from gmail to the mailplus server just fine but not from mailplus to gmail. If I test this with another email provider, I can both send and receive just fine, so the problem seems to be specific to only gmail, and only gmail receiving emails from mail server. Any ideas of where to start troubleshooting?
