Sorry for this question - might be a simple one ....Null hypothesis: There is a significant co-relation between the two ; Alternative hypothesis: There is no significant co-relation between the two but p value is less than alpha, we reject the null hypothesis. So how are we saying there is significant co-relation between the two ? What am i missing here ?

How would I input this in Minitab to test for the chi-square goodness-of-fit? I am stumped :( This is the problem: "Foot Locker holds 19.4% of the sneaker market in the US. Suppose that due to its relationship with Nike and Nike’s presence in the U.S. West region, Foot Locker believes that its share of the market in that region is higher than it is in the rest of the country. The research company randomly samples 1000 people in the U.S.West who have just purchased a pair of sneakers and 230 of the sampled shoppers purchased their sneakers at Foot Locker. Is this result enough evidence to declare that Foot Locker’s share of the market in the U.S. West is significantly higher than it is otherwise?"

Lets say you had some data on plant growth using amount of sunlight and water as predictor variables and they both have 0.000 p values - it just means both sunlight AND water are significant - more decimal places cannot tell you which is more important, you need to look at effect size, and possibly run more experiments to see when lack of one stunts growth and how they interact; but at the end of the day you may just find plants need both. Unfortunately good science needs more than just pvalues.

try looking at my video The Soft Drink Excitation (part 1), it goes through the process of collecting data and running a basic analysis, each part of the analysis is also done in a separate minitab tutorial, including tukeys pairwise comparisons. You really need an intro to stats text book - the type of analysis you use depends on how you designed your experiment and type of data. If you are a research student see if your university offers a free consultation for grad students. Good Luck!

seems there are some ways ( e.g. one way, two ways, balanced...) to do that and I dont know which one is my case. also I dont know how to use Tukey method ( I'm using Minitab) I know these are too much question but it is soooo important for me to know, Thanks alot in advance

Thanks for your video, I really need help for my thesis since I dont have any background information about statistical analysis its kind of so difficult for me, PLEASE help me out of this..then I can start writing my project. my question is I need to study the effect of three different factor ( voltage, tip to target distance and feed solution ratio) on my result ( Diffusion coefficient) by ANOVA. then using Tukey method for that

I'm not sure I understand you - in the menus up the top of minitab there is a tab called "calc" and the first option should be the minitab calculator which has all the options you needs (like SQRT etc). Any customising you can do in minitab really is just cosmetic (look and feel), not actual functionality. Post again with more details if you don't work it out...

Re, Minitab 16, In my calculator, I just have the regular Microsoft calculator. Is that the result of customization that you did? If so, where do I find the file that you are using for transforms?

yeah...not sure what happened here, it was a while ago...I've pasted the output into the description (it doesn't have the right spacing in arial font, if you want to see it how minitab has it then cut and paste it into something that has courier, like plain old notepad)

Hi, I'm afraid there isn't a strong relationship between selling price and land area in this case and even with various transformations you won't get a large Rsquare. From memory the variation in house prices didn't seem to have a lot to do with the variables the students collected (for any project there is no guarantee you will be able to find a solution that explains most of the variation). Take a look at The Soft Drink Excitation(Part 2) for more on assumptions, residuals and transformations.
