That's a very valid and interesting point, so Ephesians 5:27 speaks of the whole body of believers (the church) as Christ’s bride, collectively purified. It does not suggest that an individual is the "church," but rather that Christ is preparing the whole community of believers for Himself. Further from that, the term "church" comes from a Greek word "ekklesia". It's used in the Bible to refer to the assembly or gathering of believers, rather than a singular individual. You can also read: Corinthians 6:19: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” 1 Corinthians 3:16: “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”
