There are many gifts of the spirit and diverse tongues family 🕊️🔥

Despite what some choose to believe, speaking in tongues in our day-n-age is *not a sign we have the Holy Spirit in us, or that we have been baptized by the Spirit. We are counseled in 1 Corinthians 14:4-17 not to speak out in another language when there is no translator for the hearers to know and understand what was spoken. There are a few religious groups that fail to realize what the purpose of speaking in another known language is all about, or what actually occurred with the Apostles at Pentecost as is mentioned in the book of Acts 2 that began the idea of Speaking in Tongues among God's people. The time of this setting is as follows. The Apostles just returned from watching Jesus ascend up into the clouds to return to the heavenly Father. They elected another among them to replace the position Judas once had making the group to once more be twelve instead of eleven. They also were praying and putting aside their differences when the Holy Spirit came into the room and fell upon each one. It was at this time they began to speak in a language they did not learn. Why? because this was the time when many Jews came to Jerusalem for the Passover who were of another nation and who spoke another language. As the Passover celebration period was closing, many were still lingering about the area. It was at this point in time these visitors to Jerusalem were passing by the house wherein the Apostles were speaking loudly in those people's native language, as we read in verses Acts 2:5-14. They thought the Apostles were drunk, but were confused as to why they were speaking in their own languages and not that which the locals spoke. Peter spoke up to explain why and how each person were able to hear the Gospel message clearly. When Peter finished, 3,000 were converted and baptized. Since God is not One of confusion but of order, so also is the means by which the Gospel is shared with those who do not speak according to our own known language. It is not to lift up notoriety within us as is the habit that comes about, thinking that we have been baptized of the Spirit. That was not the main reaction but what was needed at that time. This is quite different than what some from a few churches think. The idea that they are speaking in the Spirit that they are now baptized and filled by the Holy Spirit, when in fact, is not necessarily *THE Spirit* but another that prompts a person to make such a babbling noise out loud.

"Just believe and receive". OK what does that mean? Well, it's a lot isn't it? How much do we believe about speaking in tongues? Could you write it all out and fill up page after page and say I believe this much about speaking in tongues? If so, then you are well on your way in believing. Have you ever noticed how children sometimes like to ask questions and hear the answers? Did you ever get a notebook and write a question at the top of the page and then leave the page blank so you can write out the answer? Could you write out 20 - 50 questions on speaking in tongues and then have you ever asked God to lead you into finding the right answers, using your Bible and just waiting on him to lead you into the answers? What is speaking in tongues? Speaking in tongues is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. It's one of the 9 spoken of in 1 Cor 12-14. By it, we give God thanks well. We worship God by speaking in tongues. If we want to use speaking in tongues to give a message from God or for God to the people around us in a meeting, at some appropriate time, such as whenever the leader of the meeting asks for it, then we may speak in a tongues a short bit, and then through the manifestation of interpretation of tongues we may give the gist of what we have just spoken in a tongue, in our known language to the people around us. As God has given us the utterance (I think of this as the what to say part) in a tongue, he can also give us what to say in our known language to use in the interpretation part, and this we do by faith through the grace God has given us because we believe in Jesus. What we get from God comes to us because of the cross, because of what Jesus did. There is so much more I could share, Lord willing but I think you see where I am leading you, because I first was led by those who were led by others, and we all have been led by the Spirit of God.

With as much respect as one can show in a comment section on KZbin, speaking in tongues were actual spoken as known languages, not random gibberish. They were to be interpreted. They were meant for edification. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self control. I'm a grown man & have asked multiple people to show me their interpreter only to be received with scoffs. If you truly believe you're speaking in tongues glorifies God in some way, leave it between you & God. Pray to God that He shows you what you. . . should learn from it. Don't drag confusion into other people's faith.

There are celestial languages and other languages not known on Earth. Don't drag your ignorance into other people's faith please.
@trishash795 күн бұрын
@davidm1149 We live in a world where people get to decide what's right & wrong, good & bad & that's a problem. If society is making their own truth, then there's no objective truth, just subjective truth, which is absurd. The Bible is my standard of truth. If you could point me to where the Bible says "celestial languages" are important & should be used in our day, I would appreciate it. I'm not posting to maliciously offend anyone, so respectfully, don't comment unless you can provide proofs that explain why my post was incorrect.

Thank you for this encouraging testimony. I too received the gift of tongues many years ago and like you I knew in my spirit that whatever I was saying in a language I had never learned was glorifying God and not a deception. I was filled with the joy of the Lord. It was a miraculous event that I will never forget. I feel sorry for those Christians who are suspicious about such a wonderful gift from God that is clearly taught in scripture. Blessings.

In the Bible, scoffers are people who reject God and His Word, and who ridicule those who follow God. They are characterized by arrogance: They are proud and haughty, and act with insolent pride and cruel humour: They use sarcasm and a twisted wit to belittle piety and distort morality.

You must just be being sarcastic. NO, one must be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one that gives the utterance. Seek God , become part of a church, get baptized in Jesus name and God will fill you with the Holy Ghost.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Everyone of you who wishes to speak in tongues or who thinks speaking in tongues is gift from God is fooled by devil. God is simple and true He would not make you speak in gibberish only He or angels understand. He would not want you to confuse others. It’s tricks of devil. They’re laughing at you. And for those who look for gifts of Holy Spirit - you’re the easiest of preys for Satan.

Apparently you have no idea what tongues even means.... Tongues is the ability of His Elect (144,000) to spread The Word in ALL languages. No some made up gibberish. Like English is a tongue, and Mandarin is a tongue, French is a tongue. And when someone speaks with he Lord some will not know what they say. If I pray in Hebrew and you do not know Hebrew, my words aren't for you, they are for Him.
@billyback103825 күн бұрын
There are people who read the same scripture that she reads, interpret it completely different. I've been praying in tongues since my twenties and I'm 79. I know you've heard people explain it to you that way but that is not what the Bible says nor is that what it means. I can show you the scripture, but you think you already know what it means. You need to pull the scripture up, read it, and ask God to reveal to ;you if there is more. A prayer language is not a language to other people but a prayer language to God.

The Lord is above all things. Is Satan an exception to this truth? Who did Job give credit to for his suffering? Well, it wasn't Satan because Job, being a true believer, knew that Satan has no power over Him unless the Father gives it. Job 1:12 NIV [12] The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. It is no different today in the world. Isaiah 45:7 King James Version I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

(Psalms Chap. 51) ---------- 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. 5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. 15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Words matter. *THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.* I'll never forget the men that studied "alien" abductions. They were non-Christians. They were stunned to discover a trend in every alien abduction. The ones that said, *Jesus Christ help me,* experienced an immediate end to the demon infiltrators who immediately disappeared. The moral of the story, *USE THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST EVERY CHANCE YOU GET.*
