I’m sorry what in the world is this. Everyone needs to be arrested posting this, making this, condoning this. Wow. This is not training a dog

Ivan I've followed Larry I'm just average Joe not much knowledge of dog training, however my dog is obedient but my knowledge and understanding could only take me to a certain level my problem was my dog off leash sometimes would blow my command off and go attack another dog so I looked in to ecollar I followed Larry's program taught my dog what the ecollar means he caught on fast I don't teach any training with that ecollar only if he blows me off and set chase on another dog He's a doberman x rhodesian over the last 2 years I've used that collar for blowing me off around 5 times 4 of them was the first year which made both dogs safe I call him now he stops on a penny comes back My collar is safety net not a training collar

That dog is great, of course everyone must realize the amount of time and effort required to get the dog to this level.

I love that you show the soft loving side of him, not just the action. Very important for the dog to be balanced. One of these days I would love for you to meet my Rogue. I live in Cal and just missed you here recently. I am Eddie 👋

Can you explain your thought process behind letting the dog “keep” the toy vs bringing it back to you? With a dog that has the personality of “come challenge me for this” like the second dog in the video, you seem quite happy to let them do that. I was wondering if there’s more information on this.

Good podcast and discussion! However, you are mis-interpreting the Shalke et. al paper. What it showed was that the if the dog can determine when and avoid the shock (i.e. the hunt test group A), the dog does not show a high level of stress. The rate of cortisol in the 'here' command was not that different than the level of cortisol when shocks are given in the random situations. The conclusion was that poor timing in normal situations makes the ecollar stressful. Again, evidence that collars should not be available to the general public (i.e. on Amazon or in feed stores) and they require excellent training to use the collar correctly.

The truth is that an auto - attack like this without command is a very dangerous capability for a dog to have. What if the man had just given her a hug? There are a million examples of how and why you would NOT want a real protection dog trained to do this. We don’t use it in our training.

I feel bad fro my friend with hard pulling pittie, using a harness. 😮 The dog slips out of his harness all the time (bc it’s also not well fitted)!! He’s a beautiful dog, but doesn’t have the proper guidance. 😢. I wish I could help him, but it’s not my place to. 😢

a former neighbour said when they were deployed to Germany temporarily they had to have their prong collar concealed under a flat collar because of the laws against them there. Does it make sense to think of balanced training as 95% positive reinforcement 5% discipline ? ( I like the word discipline better than punishment)..

I'm an occasional teacher and I find there is less of a trend now to bribe students with rewards like stickers etc for completing tasks working well etc etc. Some teachers don't believe in bribing students but rather that the reward or lack of reward comes in the form of a good or bad grade or report card.

very interesting. I like to listen to all sides. I think one issue with Zak George is he lacks nuance and openness to look at ALL the research.

Thank you so much for your very clear videos. I've a 11 months old female malinois, I would like to teach her to keep my backpack outside and bark to alert me if someone tries to take it ...while I'm shopping for example. Could you tell me the steps how to teach him . The subject of an upcoming video? ;-)

In teaching the 'Out' Ivan states letting the dog know it is OK to let go! After working the dog in prey drive to encourage the dog to bite it is time now to teach the dog it is OK to let go. To teach a dog to bite is time consuming. You must 'sucker' the dog onto the bite sleeve. It is not nature for a dog to bite! The first time a dog does bite that is not a trained protection dog they are normally euthanized. After that to know that a dog will bite is to bring the dog to a concealed sleeve. They will become sleeve happy! Once a dog has been worked in 'prey drive' and taught to bite with a full mouth and to bite hard it would be difficult to train the dog properly to 'out'! Ivan is the best!

Ivan Balabanov is the best. He does an excellent job teaching. I have trained in Schutzhund. If I ever train another dog, it will be an OT Vitosha. I am not sure what country I want the bloodline from. Does the Belgian Malinois have as good of a nose as the German Shepherd in scent work? Thanks for the video.
