The parawing will give you some forward speed, and then you need to pump up onto the foil (like a paddle up). Each time you get a small release, the board will speed up a little and with the constant pull of the parawing you will come up. And once up you will have a lot of power from the parawing.

Totally, I went out on the 5.1m and same 130 Florence X and it was so easy to get up on foil almost no pump needed. Smaller Parawing with small foil require simmilar pump technique to DW paddle up. I will try the Lift 180 HAX with the parawing next time. I now see that a bigger more forgiving foil will speed up the learning curve with the parawing. I find the parawing very useful already when paddling out through some heavy shorebreaks ;)

Bravo!…I got 5.1 m Maliko…Wing friends said they were not sold & teased me of why such a hard work-learning curve drives me like Dock/Beach start…..I tried 3 times .. First 2 winds were on-shore from West…not ideal for my spot but 3rd (9/25) was a solid North 10-25 knots, I was on my Kt wing drifter 105 L w/ 1440 Takuma V1… on foiled & jibe rode toe-side back to shore..will try tack & chop hop later. No back-wind on that need a Wing ha..ha.. noticed you pull on back lines when climbing onto board, which will park the P-wing..15 years of both inflatable and Foil (bridles) kites. Keep the front lines tight the whole time when need power (fly). When you pull back lines (opposite from green tab-side)it will park the P-wing which same as Foil kites.

I think (from the safety,warmth and comfort of my couch :) ) everybody is crashing into the same "gear" wall. Either they try the Parathingy with a sinker,midlenght sinker or a floaty but skinny DW board that is hell to stand on. And i understand...nobody into DW has floaty widish boards anymore... But wouldn't this be a lot easier on a say 6.5 x 26" x 115 ltrs?. Just asking, i have not bought the beastie yet though i am so tempted ,warts and all :) PS i was whooping at 05:50 when you got it flying,well earned!.

Thanks mate, in all honesty the aim is still to learn to paddle up with a paddle. And I purchased the parawing because i can see it replacing winging for me. I don't like winging and I hate having a pump 😅 where as the parawing can come with me where ever I go, like a women 👛 I use it if condition is good for it, or use it when I am already dead from paddling and I need something to hold onto. Coming from the kite background I really see a lot of different application to Parawing. If it's nuking windy I will prob ride my midlenght wingboard, if it's light wind I will always ride my DW sup. And I will always take a 5.1m when I go Downwinding cos you never know when you snap a paddle, or break a leg, the parawing will always pull me back to shore 🤙. And yes answering to your question - riding a shorter and wider board can be easier to learn but half the fun riding a big board. This session i went all out on a tinny foil, narrow sup and small Parawing. Next time I will take the 5.1m with a 1150 foil and sup will be much more forgiving I hope 🤣😎

Nice one Zoltan. I was sold on it, but I think your video has put me off 😂😂 I reckon the paddle is easier... What do you think it'll be like to ride upwind?
@Foilboardshop_uk3 ай бұрын
Hahaha I am not trying to convince people. I love the fact it's so compact and I can take the wing with me anywhere. I know it is the right call for me, cos it's easier to DW in Cornwall with a parawing and small foil compared to a sup and a big foil. Learning to paddle up on big ass foil with lack of wave energy is forgiving, but here in Cornwall I refuse to ride big wings (I won't use anything bigger than 1050cm2) cos we have so much power in the ocean and riding big foils doesn't feel good. This was my very first session on the Parawing and I am not a very good winger either. I was up on foil twice within 1h using a 830cm2 foil so I am already winning 😎 Give me a few more months and I will have no issues doing DW runs anywhere in the country/ cruising upwind with a harness. I feel that natural stance it's easier and more efficient to go upwind so you won't have any issues if you are good at switching feets. Riding upwind/unhooked towside without a harness will be tricky because your shoulder gets overpowered, you upper body will be pulled forward and you won't be able to edge as much going upwind. But with a harness riding upwind even in towside will be easy. The parawing has the same principles as flying and riding a kite upwind. Also worth mentioning that it was a very windy and gusty day. It's always going to be harder to learn on a small Parawing and small foil on a very windy day. Best is if people learn with a 5.1m and 1000cm2 foil in 17-19knots (the learning experience will be more forgiving, and also going upwind unhooked with a bigger wing in lighter wind will be more efficient too ;)

Hey man, good review. I'm coming off an Appletree Slice V2, which is 60L, 4'9 long, 23" wide. I bought it when I was around 75kg myself but have bulked up in the 2 years since and I'm now 84kg. I'm struggling more and more to get it out of the water, I find that it "sticks" to the surface more than it used to when I was lighter. While I could just "upgrade" by getting more liters (65 or 75L would be good for me), this revolution in longer and skinnier boards over the last 2 years is interesting. I definitely want to get a shape like that (could be the Sultan, but also the new Armstrong midlengths look good), but wondering what size I should get. Given that these new shapes are so much easier to get out of the water, I could go for a 60-ish board and it should be noticeably easier than my current Appletree. But bigger might be even better, although what would be too big? You being 85kg and the board 65L, what is the lightest wind you use it in? Thanks!

Do you ride with or without straps please ?
@Foilboardshop_uk9 ай бұрын
First session we rode it with straps but riding it strapless ever since. Semi sinker and yet it is equally easy to water start strapless. Rode it in 25-30knots and also in 12-16knots (strapless) with ease.
