J'ai eu connaissance 🧐de ce Codex en regardant un épisode de la série policière Française Astrid & Raphaëlle Des mots pour le complément de l' image vidéo : Le codex Borbonicus est un manuscrit mésoaméricain peint sur du papier d'amate et plié en accordéon. Ce document pictographique de tradition nahua servait de rituel divinatoire, mais aussi de diurnal pour la célébration des fêtes religieuses. Si sa date d'exécution exacte demeure inconnue, elle est néanmoins estimée aux alentours de la conquête espagnole du Mexique, c'est-à-dire entre la fin du XVe et le début du XVIe siècle.Parmi les quelques codex d’origine aztèque retrouvés, ce manuscrit est l’un des héritages les plus précieux qui aient pu être préservés. Il décrit, sur 14 mètres de long, les calendriers divinatoires et solaires des Aztèques par des scènes colorées avec des animaux, des personnages, des divinités.

Also, antiquarians actually advise under most circumstances not to wear gloves. While it's true that the oil present on human skin can possibly damage ink if not handled delicately; you're far more likely to damage the pages by accident wearing gloves than not. Something about the tactile feedback of the pages being necessary to ensure you don't accidentally tear a page as you're turning it. The Library of Congress' reccomendations for handling rare texts are as follows: “Before handling any collection item, thoroughly wash and dry hands. Contrary to widespread belief, gloves are not necessarily recommended to handle rare or valuable books. Gloves (nitrile or vinyl) are always recommended if there is reason to suspect a health hazard (e.g., mold, arsenic). Clean gloves (nitrile, vinyl, or lint-free cotton) are also recommended when handling photograph albums/photographs or books with metal or ivory parts. Aside from those specific situations, it is generally preferable to handle your books with clean hands, washed with soap and thoroughly dried, rather than with gloves.”
