It's been challenging getting into C++, but it's worth it. Unreal Engine already offers so much, and C++ just brings in so much more customization.

Coming along nicely. Using the 8bit generators out there to create sounds is a good way to do the simpler game audio, but you'll want to shake it up a bit. Eg, your explosions. You probably already know not to use Direct references when a variable reference is possible, so things like playing a sound file should not be used directly, rather a variable containing a reference to it. Rather than setting the value using the drop-down in the variable, use a function that selects one of the 6 based on a random integer in range. If you wish to weight some sounds as more frequent, simply add more result pins to that outcome, so 1 goes to sound 1, 2 goes to sound 2, 3 -6 all go to sound 3, making 3 much more common.

Excellent advise! I've added it to the sound section of my code template. The variability in sounds used would definitely improve immersion during gameplay and as a bonus save space. Didn't consider it during this chapter, and I certainly wont forget it for the next one

I'm trying not to get carried away but I have half a dozen projects mapped out. My main passion project is a co-op puzzle platformer / adventure. Weirdly enough, the inspiration Bad fur day, Kamio, DS1 and tribes aerial assault. I'll elaborate more in a future video!
