Great result. What, if any, prep work did you do? Looks like you just drew on top of the varnish layer. If so, how did it not smudge? And did you use a protective coat afterwards? No criticism, genuine queries.

Digging this. Are you sequencing everything via the ko2?

@@verbalkint33 Thanks! So the KO2 is sequencing the piano apps on the ipad and all of the drums come directly from the 4 percussion tracks on the OPZ. OPZ has midi clock out to the KO2 clock in

This is sweet! I'm trying to do something similar - is the EP133 sending MIDI to the RC500? Then it just locks the loop lengths to the beat?
@Retrobeet
@Retrobeet Ай бұрын
@@Barny_Loves_You So with this one, I have the RC500 s the master clock out to the EP133. The RC500 is set to auto detect tempo and I have loop sync on. I will set a tempo manually on the RC with the tempo know and then write a loop on the EP133 at that tempo. I then play over the EP loop with my guitar and the RC500 will auto detect the loop tempo and if I play it in time then the tempo won’t really change. I have the RC500 as master clock because I often just use it without and samplers/drums. I think setting it with the EP133 as master would just be the same, but you’d have to start every jam with the EP133 and I don’t know if the guitar loop would sync properly
@laughingatoblivion
@laughingatoblivion Ай бұрын
@@Retrobeet @Barny_Loves_You the RC-500 will sync to the tempo of the EP133 (or any other midi clock source, I use an MC-101) but as you say you then have to start the jam with the groovebox/sampler because there's no midi clock information for the RC-500 to sync to until you hit play on the groovebox/sampler. The opposite is also true and creates an issue as well because if you hit stop on the groovebox/sampler then I've found you get artifacts/'bubbling' in the recorded loops on the RC-500 as it switches from the midi tempo to internal tempo. I spoke to Roland/Boss about this and they said to do what you do and use the RC-500 as the master clock (although I haven't tried it that way yet). In the long run I think an external clock source that sets both devices to a pre-determined tempo via midi clock is probably the most robust solution.

That was great! Could you give some info about your signal chain?
@Retrobeet
@Retrobeet 2 ай бұрын
It’s quite basic really. The RC500 looper is at the end of my guitar pedal board. It has 2 tracks which I can select between as I please. The RC500 is sending clock out to the KO2 via midi. In this jam I start on the KO2 despite the RC500 being the master. Before recording I manually set a tempo on the RC500 with the tempo know and listen to the KO2 metronome in order to get a speed that I’m happy with. Audio from looper and KO2 go into the Zoom L6 LiveTrak mixer. Guitar signal - Tuner - MXR dyna comp - ACS1 v1 - ALABS stereo delay - Walrus Audio Sloer - RC500 - Mixer

@@seandanger The S1 is so good. I'm just using the FX built into the units for the whole jam. I think all of the OPZ sounds are from op1.fun and the S1 is a tweaked patch that I have saved. I'm sure I added a little compression/limiting on the iPad in post. I use Grand finale on most things and Flux, both by Klevgrand

Came from Reddit. Nice job, plenty of progress and movement over a short time, so it’s not dull. The start reminds me of a house/techno DJ mix album from the ‘90s, so points for nostalgia. I’m not calling it dated though. Don’t read into what I’m saying too much. What the f*ck do Dj’s actually do?😂 Still listening

love this! Is OP-z Master clock? I'm trying to find the best routing for this kind of setup. I have the op-z and the ko ii. thinkin hard on an s1 or something similar to round it out.
@Retrobeet
@Retrobeet 5 ай бұрын
From what I can remember, the KO2 is master and is sending midi out to the S1. I sequence the S1 from group D within the KO2 on midi channel 1. I then have midi through activated on the S1 and send midi out to the OPZ via the line module. I do all of the OPZ sequencing internally, so for this it is just receiving clock from the KO2 through the S1. I just took this combo on vacation. Being able to jam fully portable was amazing
