Not really a Slade fan but nonetheless this was MY song during the early ‘70’s. Everybody I knew finished whatever we were doing by singing this song to me. Oh, man, such great teen times!! JaneR

Brilliant song and just rediscovered this after looking at my record collection. How this was not a hit god knows? Probably got lost in the 90s shite I didn't like much as a guy in my 20s and my wife at the time liked that rubbish as did many of my friends. Great song

[Verse 1] I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi I've seen the bridges of the world and they're for real [Bridge] I've had a red light off-the-wrist Without me even gettin' kissed It still seems so unreal [Verse 2] I've seen the morning in the mountains of Alaska I've seen the sun set in the East and in the West [Pre-Chorus] I've sang the glory that was Rome And passed the "Hound Dog" singer's home It still seems for the best [Chorus] And I'm far far away With my head up in the clouds And I'm far far away With my feet down in the crowds Lettin' loose around the world But the call of home is loud Still as loud

Wonder if the cameraman just before the end had been indulging in the BBC Bar which nearly caused him to push his £25k odd Camera into the crane ?

I'm not surprised Noddy Holder was considered as a replacement for Bon Scott in AC-DC. I think he would he been as good as Brian Johnson - nothing to choose between them.

My grandmother bought me this album in 2002 as a gag because we thought they resembled the monkees especially dave hill looking like kind of like Davy. Gosh I miss those days and my grandmother she was alot of fun❤ RIP mama 1942-2018😢

I really like Universe, it's a shame that this wasn't a big hit at the time. It does grow on you as you listen more to it. It's different to their glam rock singles of the 1970s and honestly it should be. It's still got the classic Slade rock sound and the lyrics are introspective and quite beautiful. I'm glad that this is available on KZbin for people to admire because this is a song that very much deserves it.

I have listened to this beautiful song hundreds of times in my life. Listened when I felt elation, listened when I was at my bottom. Tonight I'm just trying to make sense of this world. This band and their wonderful song literally just flashed in my mind right to my fingers instantly typing, "Slade My o My" into the search bar. I will add another 10 listens to my hundreds tonight. Thank you Slade for being there!
