What happened was quite simple. Megadude started development on a personal project back in 2017, shared the project in late 2022, and created a Discord for it, sharing whatever he wanted to about the game. after a while, the game's popularity grew. He was in the process of making a beta-tester program, but for unknown reasons, he abandoned the idea, Soon after, he must have realized the truth of just how challenging it would be to make the game he and everyone envisioned. It took him several years just to develop this passion project to what we have all been shown. I believe that after this realization, he decided that the best possible thing to do was to delete everything and vanish. All things considered, I think this was the best option. It was either vanish or try to develop the game everyone wanted (which he couldn't). The hype was too strong and expectations too high, that he couldn't have possibly said "I quit" in any way without experiencing the same amount of hatred that he has gotten with his actual decision. I have heard talks of him getting doxxed, but the co-owner of the Deterrence server, TOAD, has stated the following: "No one got doxxed. Mega's reason for doing what he did is legitimate. Even though it seems like it, Deterrence was never a scam." "I don't know what he's doing with the donations." "Mega had his reasons, it wasn't all a scam." And in response to someone asking why Mega canceled Deterrence: "For reasons you'll never know, but his intention was to never scam anyone. We had plans for Deterrence." With all of this considered, I believe my theory is correct. He realized what he should have before telling people how vast the game would be, and quit without a word.
