I am 46, a registered nurse, overweight with hypertension, I had done what I could to manage my htn took my meds, I walked all the at work and outside. I woke up one morning and I smashed into the wall falling over my whole left side was shut down leg was moving but not my arm this was after Thanksgiving 2021, I think I have reached my platae because I just don't have the strength, no income, disability taking forever from my insurance, this is really difficult and the stress my poor wife is going through.

Don’t give up. It can take years to regain speech, is what I’ve been reading. Read this book “my stroke of insight”, great book. The writer had a major stroke and took about 8 years, according to her, for full recovery.

Sometimes it can take years. No matter what DON'T GIVE UP. Read out loud, write down words you have trouble pronouncing. You may have to see a speech/ language therapist. I had my first stroke in 2020. My memory is still affected. When I am overwhelmed it's hard for me to concentrate, remember things, and my spelling is off ( I can't remember how to spell words). I know it can be fustrating and seem like know understands or care. But do give up on yourself. I have accepted that I may never get all my memory back, nor be a great speller again. Just take it day by day.🌄👍

@@mariaespiritu9512 I have read My stroke insight and unfortunately it was a waste of time. Lol in a nutshell, all she does is talk about herself and stories of her life and gets boring. There's no timeline documented in this book on how to get better and heal oneself and that's what we need. It's common sense. For example It would be great if she said, "2 years from now i started to re-gain cognitive function." Or "it took 5 years to speak clearly, my reading progressed and I was thinking a whole lot more clearly What was she thinking when she decided to write the book? As a stroke person we need this type of material to know what's going on inside our heads at least we can get a ballpark idea. I know everyone is different but still it would have helped. Unfortunately this was more frustrating the more I read the book. She should have wrote a biography. Lol But thank you. I know you meant well!! 🙂
