I purchased a binder for my BL coverstitch a month ago, and even though I *thought* I knew how to use it I wasn't having the best turnout with it. However, now that I've seen your video - especially the part about needle to binder tip placement - I do believe I'll do better with it going forward. Thanks so much!🎉

Great tutorial…I have a question how to you measure your neck band if not using a pattern piece, so it lays flat. I need to make the neck opening larger so it fits over the head and not sure how to measure the band correctly.

Thanks for this, made it awhile ago, but 2nd time having a problem. When you put the corners up how many layers are there ??? The GS instructions say "top layer" but its looks like doubled to me ? thanks .

You did a fabulous job demonstrating using the double fold binder attachment. You are the first one I've watched who pointed out the importance of lining it up with the needles and the bottom fold as well as how many samples it took before it came out correctly. Thank you so much!

I purchased the pattern a while back, but finally sewed it up today. Here in Texas, we are still in high 90s and I was ready for something floaty and non binding. I’ve seen tops in rtw catalogs this year, so I was doubly motivated. I’m very pleased with the outcome of my dress in a rayon twill.

Hi Sandra, my pleasure for the full review. I find swim fabric to be among my favorite fabrics for a shelf bra. It is supportive and it wicks the sweat away. Much like the water slides off a swim suit.

Hi Judy, thanks so much. I’m so happy with these makes. As far as my weight loss journey goes it took me 10.5 months to lose 80 lbs. I am post menopausal so I understand your situation. No secret, I began by researching what the appropriate number of calories for my body, age and honest level of activity was. Then I began to keep a food journal. I bought a food scale and planned out my entire days worth of food. If I did not write it down I did not eat it. As I lost some weight I was able to increase my activity in the way of strength training with dumbbells. This did wonders for increasing a post menopausal metabolism. I continued with the food journal increasing my calories to fuel my workouts as I continued to build muscle. Today at my goal weight I continue with the food journal and the strength training. I also do some cardio for heart and lungs but my heaviest concentration is weight lifting.

@@sewjourns7128 well you look amazing! Thank you for sharing your story 🥰I really appreciate it! I have been doing some research and found that for menopausal women weight training is best. I love your idea of writing and planning your meals. I will start to journal and plan better myself. I live a busy life so I think having some pre prepared meals would work better for when Im too tired to cook. So you’ve not only inspired me in my sewing but in my menopause/ Weight loss journey as well. Can’t thank you enough! 🤗😘

If the thread breaks and you are at least half way through a long draw cord I have inserted my serger tweezers or hemostats and grabbed the fabric and was able to pull it through.

How do you measure for the length of the band on a ready made shirt- no pattern piece
@sewjourns7128
@sewjourns7128 Жыл бұрын
Hi Meg, if you are using 4 way stretch fabric with 50% stretch and excellent recovery such as cotton Lycra, which is the best choice for a band then measure the opening on the neck hole all the way around at the seam allowance and take 85% of that for your neck band. I like mine cut at 1.75 inches wide some like 2 inches. Then you’ll fold in half and press.

Sure a three thread will work. Just remember that a three thread overlock is not as sturdy as a 4 thread so just turn it gently and you’ll be fine. It’s such a time saver. Turning tubes is my nemesis. 😜
