Hey Hamza, I forgot to reach out to you when I told you I had a great in person callback audition in February. Long story short, I booked it and I'm filming right now.

I appreciate your insight. I will definitely try the 20-20-20 method. Over the years I have used several techniques for getting my lines down. I especially like writing the first letter of every word, including punctuation. One thing i try to be consistent with is reading the sides out loud as the very last thing i do before I turn out the lights at night. And again it's the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning. Once I have a pretty good handle on it I will mark the pivot points in the script. Learning when those shifts occur help me see the difference in tone and really help solidify it. Oh, and sometimes I use the Line Learner app. This lets me record all of the characters' lines so I can take it anywhere. In the car, walking my dog, doing the dishes, etc. And I can change the pitch of the characters voices so they all don't sound the same. There are other similar apps, but I just use this one. All this being said, these tools will vary according to what I need for any particular project. But there is no substitute for putting in the work. Hit it as soon as you get it. Cheers!

That's all great! I especially like the idea of the app. I've yet to try it myself, but will most defiantly look into it in the future.

If not specified, do you go to a slightly more "involved" slate to show some personality, or keep to simple info ("Hi, my name is Scott Butler and I'm 5'10" vs "Scott Butler, 5'10")?
@EffectiveAuditioning8 ай бұрын
I recommend slating the way you speak and as your most authentic self. They just watched a tape with you "playing a character", and the slate gives them a glimpse of the performer behind the character. If you naturally keep things short and like to get to the point, that's completely fine. Your natural personality will shine through regardless of what you say in your slate if your relaxed and yourself.
