Robots like this will be a game-changer for disabled people, and the fact that Apptronik is emphasizing human-safe design and intuitive interaction will give them an edge. Also, the modular design will make the robot customizable for different needs depending on the disability. It will also keep costs down by letting them only pay for what they need and making repairs easier.
Rest in peace, Gerardo. Thanks for all you did bringing humanoid robotics forward.

I wonder if the robots with legs will give shit to the robots with wheels. In their down time at smoko will they race each other in the park? Will the top half be interchangeable between wheels and legs? And surely legs and a little buggy are better than making a centaur style robot? I guess if a robot has a very specific function within a known and fixed environment, then a trolley base is easier from a compute perspective.

Why is half a humanoid on a trolley so creepy? Also was that a real video or CG?

This looks faked. No shadows on the distant trolleys. The robot's shadow does not fit with the cameraman's he seems to have been composited in.

Зачем вообще делать человекоподобных роботов?

I guess rubber or something grippy and hard enough but not too hard makes the maths for walking more difficult. I do know the clop clop of an approaching bot would drive a dude or dudette in a warehouse bonkers. Love the design. Best of the bots I've seen. The head is the best bit. Gotta give it a head, but no need to make it a solid head given the thinking doesn't happen up there. Is the stuff Apollo does all running local? The walking in this vid for example is onboard, not teleoperated?
