Socialists believe in government sovereignty over the individual. This is why most socialists backed human rights abuses undertaken by the government, which took place in Britain in 2020-23.

Everyone who watches this should be watching the Steve Keen & Friends podcast. Steve's a "rebel economist" who's been bucking against main stream economics for several decades and his main theme is the FALSE ASSUMPTIONS that main stream economists operate from. For example Steve points out the flawed assumptions of William Nordhaus, who won the Nobel Prize for economics which is actually NOT a real Nobel its a separate prize sponsored by the Swedish Central bank. Nordhaus makes the claim that climate change will only have a small effect on the worlds economy because most of the worlds economy is done by people working indoors (offices, factories, shopping malls,.....). Nordhaus completely ignores the fact that most of our food is grown outdoors or that industries like mining wont be affected. FYI - I'm an engineer and have worked in both manufacturing and mining. Plus my grandparents were farmers. So I know first hand just how laughable Nordhaus is and yet he not only won the fake Nobel but advised the Whitehouse one climate economics.

You know we don't vote for the Prime Minister in this country, right Alan? We vote for our own MP who is going to hopefully represent us and our interests... So you didn't vote for Corbyn but Maskell. However, it seems that we are swinging yet again from Red to Blue to Red.... Trouble is, there is no political education in schools and this has left people with a very confused view of what is going on. So they decide not to vote and pretend politics has nothing to do with them... Which is how we've gotten into the mess we are in - the politicians think they can do anything they like. I do hope you are able to make a difference Alisdair. We could do with a Parliament made up of independent MPs A whole new system in fact. Or a revolution! 😂

@@speedquizzingvideo It's not a dumb patronising comment... My comment just got deleted on here as most cannot handle the truth. All the Politicians are bought out and they serve themselves, they don't serve we the people and that is what they're supposed to be doing. They all have off shore accounts or get thier buddies a PCR con-tract or some other con-tract to make billions (basically worthless money not backed by gold). Tax money funds Wars making each Tax payer a Terror-wrist. I've been awake since 2008 trying to wake others up. Government actually means (Control-mind). I think you're really onto something with this, Alasdair! For all we know, you may be wrong (though I don't think so), but clearly based on the way our states are too often not meeting the needs of humans, we need to expand our imagination when it comes to how we organize human societies. In addition, your logic makes perfect sense and, as an American who was raised to believe that one of the geniuses of America is that each individual state is allowed certain freedoms to experiment outside of the purview of the federal government, this idea of yours only takes that a step further, while basing it in historical fact. I'm curious to hear more from you on this and why you think no one talks about it. My perhaps glib answer is "lack of imagination" but I'd add "monopoly on power" to that mix, too. Anyway, good stuff!

From what I understand, Machiavellians are people who who would go the distance to get what they want. So why would they play zero sum game strategies, when they know for a fact they only work short term. They might not have great Eqs but they manipulate and create bridges to get what they want, so of course they would have to play a combination of zero sum games and positive sum games. If someone is callous and has the ability to remain patient, they would primarily play positive sum games. Its about long term gain not empathy.

Since the age of about 7, I have had swelling and pain in the left side of my lower back. I went to the doctors many times, and they recommended that I take ibuprofen tablets because it was due to inflammation. As an adult, I tried a number of other things, some of which were temporary fixes. Then when I began to dry fast, I found that this pain completely disappeared, and rarely came back. If it did come back I would dry fast an it would disappear again. That was in addition to the increase in energy, the increased feeling of general well being, increase in mental clarity, weight loss, a deeper sleep and more. I have also read that 1 day of dry fast is equal to 3 days of water fasting. I have known people that have dry fasted and it has helped them with various medical conditions. My dry fast is usually between 16 to 20 hours. I've pushed myself to 22 hours, but I wouldn't go longer than 24 hours maximum. I try and dry fast twice a week, unless I am taking part in Ramadan. When I open my fast, I usually have a glass of water, that I sip, followed by a light salad, some blueberries, and a small piece of salmon about an hour later. Then a couple of hours later I will have a proper meal. (This is based upon something that I read about feeding after a fast, as well as a few videos that I have watched here on KZbin, based upon the subject of fasting). You don't need to worry about water, as your body creates it's own water using the fat in your body and air (H2O). And it is the best metabolic water that your body can have. I have also read that dry fasting is the best form of fasting that one can do if you want your body to go into a state of *autophagy*. Once you get into dry fasting, it become somewhat enjoyable.

Hi Alasdair. It's Dave...Puffin 😀 Great job with the video. I love the energy and the way you intro yourself. I love the content of this video. I wrote about the 'coincidence of the 'build back better' tortuous slogan Biden and Johnson are using. I think the explainer for debt-based currency is very good. I like the way you expose this to a wider audience that doesn't necessarily know much about the subject. Like you, I'm a fan of backing up what I say and encouraging listeners, viewers, the audience to go and check the facts. I'm sorry to tell you, with an attitude of basing what you say on fact and being open with your audience is never going to get you a slot on Fox, Sky or the BBC ☹ 😉 Great job. Keep going. Would you be interested in doing something together at some point? I'm a bit snowed under in the short term but that will ease towards the end of the year. No pressure, it's just a thought. Take care. Dave/Puffin

Modern economists (neo‐classical, aka neo‐liberal) are basically charlatans, paid by the fascistic state of the USA and its Western underlings to push an ideologically driven agenda. An ideology, furthermore, disguised as scientific theory and one that is the 21st century's secular equivalent of medieval scholasticism or theology - the art or science of indoctrinating people with false beliefs, including most remarkably, false beliefs that are - or at least should be - self‐evidently false.

I tend to agree with Jerry Coyne that something is a pseudoscience if it is not a science, yet masquerades as a science. Most notably, this applies to Intelligent Design (Creationism) and I think neoclassical economics is also fitting of this label.

I would put another epoch to your eight: the shift during the Song Dynasty and it's creation of capitalism, printing and gun powder with it's defusion by the Mongolian empire. Ending between 1453 to 1492, when the end of the silk road occurred and forced Europeans to explore for more wealth. Understanding this long event is extremely important. The new silk road or the one belt one belt initiative of China and how it is designed from this history, i think is a primary part of the new post US global system.

I choose these particular epochs as they served my narrative and had a basis in factual history. There are other ways I could have done it, and since reading 'Sapiens' I may well have changed some of the earlier epochs to mention the cognitive revolution. Thanks for the info, I wasn't previously aware of it.

Small correction - Plato's 9K years calculate to 11,600 years ago, not 12,800. Per Graham Hancock, Randall Carlson and other writers suggest that the 2nd impact marked the end of the Pleistocene & the beginning of the Holocene - more likely 11,600 ya (i.e., 1200 years after the start of the YD - the first impact responsible for the extinctions). The later 2nd Taurid comet fragment may have hit the oceans (rather than ice caps) and the enormous amount of H2O blasted into the atmosphere and near-earth orbit probably generated a massive greenhouse gas effect and raised temperatures and sea levels very quickly. Assuming Atlantis is where Plato said it was (just west of Gibraltar - the current Doñana Park www.livescience.com/64176-lost-city-atlantis-spain.html) an Atlantic Ocean comet whack could easily have obliterated the coastal island city in "a day and a night" for all eternity. Under the present socio-economic paradigm I wouldn't know what steps to recommend, since in my view this must be one necessary part of a radical postcapitalist socio-economic paradigm change. Whilst some of the ideas that I discuss can be taken on their own, as a general rule it's all part of an over-arching narrative of paradigm change. Hope that helps.

GREAT video! I am totally on board with your suggestions---have long thought broader curriculum, more student-guided and also smaller class sizes is the way to go. Love the number 12, too---very manageable and you can split into all sorts of groups (12 is a wonderful number for division!). Last, John Taylor Gatto is the man. I read a fair amount of his work back in the day.

Thx Bryan. For seminar style classes 12 (or less sometimes) as the modal and median class size is absolutely essential. The resources for this exist in the world, but under the current global socio-economic paradigm there is no way it can happen. Postcapitalist education systems will take this as the norm.
@bryanwinchell2485

Excellent! I love the inclusion of the fable of the frog and the scorpion to illustrate your point as such tales are really speaking my language. In addition, it speaks to what I've been arguing with friends about for years---we are told that we can't overcome the negative aspects of human society, everything from the psychology of greed to the behavior of war, because it's "in our nature" but what if human nature is malleable? One of the reasons I love Integral Theory is that it's saying precisely that--that just as evolution occurs in the exterior world of biology and such, it also occurs in the interior and we can see this in how not only we evolve as individuals in our lives but how our cultures HAVE evolved over the years. I often have pointed out to people that it wasn't all that long ago in human history when slavery was widely accepted and I'm sure the abolitionists of their day got the same sort of response---can't be overcome, it's in our nature---and yet, while it's not totally eradicated from the world, in the vast majority of places we have laws against it. So why can't we overcome the flaws of these pseudoscientific economy theories? Why can't we come to a place where war is outlawed?
