one could argue that the player being independent agents may have made individual brilliants loads of money but have tipped off the overall balance in the league in all these other football leagues - RMA Barca, City Liverpool all are on top because they throw the money at best players/coach whereas IPL being in t20 format which gives out the most variable result has salary cap and auction which ensures only the best management can hold a team together and go on to win the comp not the most richest ones. Its better that players go through auction and don't have agents - maybe the highest retention money for players could be increased to 25 Cr and the purse to 150 Cr but what we have now is great as remember the international players of Eng Aus frequently pull out of the elague without consequences and the competition is only 2 months in a year.

One point you're missing is that the IPL is only the tip of the iceberg- the players shouldn't be looked as a separate entity from BCCI as there are virtually no modes of player development apart from cricket associations who are taken care of by the BCCI. so even though this 12-13% looks very low (which in real terms is still highest as you said) but you should also consider all the domestic games and tournaments that BCCI conducts to keep these players at the level of gameplay where they can put up a show like IPL. the talk about teams making money is weird to wrap around as they took a punt on the IPL and reaped exponential rewards and are now used as a way to armtwist and dominate international cricket by buying up teams in other teams. so it all looks like oligarchs benefiting from each other and they have an arrangement which is beneficial to all at the moment we will see a shift when the balance is shifted.

Oh, you didn't get that, they are killing the compition. All these t20 league are own by IPL owners. They are taking precautions, they don't want any other league threat the hegemony of IPL in future.
