Amazing! I wonder if they replicate these sounds from their environment? (birds singing and ice cracking)

I wonder can we communicate with them using synthesizers?

that's an idea worthy of exploring. how cool would that be. some of this sounds like the intro to doctor who. the one with tom baker, where can I get more of this

I think not. Although these sounds are like FM synthesis and resonance filtering with LFO modulation, I think the frequencies these seals produce are too natural and probably "dirty" (like inharmonics, transients, and even sub or super frequencies we can not hear nor can analyzers detect) relative to what a synth would create. Plus there would be so much that would have to go into detecting patterns in the sounds to understand how to build a sound and track that the seals could comprehend. It would be a break through in understanding biology if it were possible.

It could be possible with the right kind of set up. But until we are able to understand what they are saying I think we should not attempt it. One question that comes up in my mind is this: is it even possible to translate human language into seal language? They may have completely different concepts and perceptions of the world, so our words may very well be useless to them.

Mind blowing every time sober or high. I put this on at a trippy party and made a group of 10 adults, me including, laugh uncontrollably of joy for the whole video, it was beautiful.
