I did some retesting on FastROM for doing LSS and skipping the LSS key and if you are very very aggressive with laying the bomb early you can save a lot of time over what is shown in the video, which makes the diver down method faster than walking around. However, for walking around there's also a tricky rail clip that you can do to hookshot to the pot about 2s faster, so optimally, walking around is still faster. As another note, bomb diver down is about 0.8 seconds slower than somaria diver down.

This is totally not what I learned when starting rando, glad to have someone put some science into these rooms!

My thoughts on this have become a little more nuanced as of late. I believe that getting from the back chests to dark cross is only marginally slower than getting from the boomerang chest to the chest in Zelda's cell. Because of this, if you have the lamp and the small key, and no mirror, I would just always go to dark cross from the back (assuming you do back before front). Getting to potentially skip Zelda's cell chest will be almost as good as skipping dark cross, and not having to death warp will definitely save you more time.

I can't believe I just realized this, but the spacing of the icons and numbers practice hack HUD is actually DIFFERENT than what you see when you're playing rando =/ For instance, the practice hack only shows 3 digits for the rupee count, but when you're actually playing rando it shows 4 digits, so the spacing is different. I'm going to have to look at the differences and come up with corrections based on that.

What I don't understand is how lag even occurs in moments like this in the first place. There's really not that much going on. How is this too much for the SNES to process, even in SlowROM. Surely there has to be some kind of unoptimized code at play here.
