Honestly, it would've been nice if you had made a second part to this simple-ass setup video and shown us how to actually record our JD-Xis into our DAWs via MIDI and then show us if there is any way to use the multitude of knobs on the JD to alter the sounds AFTER recording them, as well as, God forbid, adding more than 4 lousy tracks from this overpriced EDM toy. Quick question if I send a stereo signal to the house from my keyboard do the have to send me a stereo signal as well back to my in ears? I also have a small Yamaha 6 channel mixer

Man, you left out a HUGE factor! That is how you transport your keyboards. For instance, if you have a small car like a Toyota Corolla (my car), those 61 keyboards (with cases) are going to fit the best. I do have a Dodge Dakota Sport truck which carried my 76- keyboards and I had 6 boards. But, that also carried my keyboard stands, mic stand and Roland amp. The 88 keyboards stay at home (way too heavy and not worth it). However, weight is my most mportant factor, depending on YOUR age (I'm 70) and who is there to help. Right now, I use a Roland Juno D and a Yamaha Portasound which are totally lightweight, as compared to my Korg FD and my Ensoniq MR-61 which weigh a ton, even for 61 keys. Again, it depends on the songs your band plays, too. And, your points on 88 keys, in the lower range, again depends on the songs. I never use keys clear down in the basement. Let the bass player have their day for that. But, I enjoyed your post!!!

My fantom g has been mostly destroyed. Many of the keys are broke but the internal computer still works. I didn't feel like getting it repaired so i just bought a midi controller to play it with 😂

Thanks for this. How can I control (play) selected zones from an external keyboard? So say I have 5 zones making up a scene but want to control zone 3 only to sound when triggered by keys on external keyboard not from the fantom?

Thank you. I am in a duet and my guitar player's health has resulted in him retiring. I have an excellent keyboard player that is going to take his place but he is not that versed in mixers or setups. I have tried the single amp and it sounded terrible. He will be the foundation for us and needs to be stereo. He has a mixer for his setup but does not know why - you explained it. I am always working on the best sound I can get. Your video ready helps - thank you for taking the time.

How is the sustain pedal situation with this setup? Do you use the pedal on you fantom or the ones on you midi controller?

What if you want to midi sequence the Jupi and send/record audio to logic at the same time and hear it in the context of an existing Logic project with other softsynths, etc.? To transfer the audio to logic, one will have to select the Jupiter X as the audio interface in Logic, correct? Meaning you cannot have another audio interface coexist in logic with the Jupiter, amirite? If that’s the case, that’s stupid and pretty much useless…

That's why the old Hammond Sk 88 was the perfect keyboard. Plenty of keys, only one board to transport, light action and not too heavy.

So my keyboards should be at 100%? I’m told by band mates to not do that. But I’m having problems at our gigs with sounding like crap. I have Roland keys and. Key Largo mixer. What advice do you have?

i feel like 88 should be my main piano for Studio use and live. and 61 keys should be my second keyboard as a synthesizer as well because the 61 has more sounds than my Yamaha-P125.
