Keeping a teen focused is an accomplishment in and of itself. My oldest is very focused, but with me youngest, i am finding it necessary to give him breaks. I am learning. 😊

Thanks for the comment! I'd say it's not a waste, though. Practice can be what you might be thinking - flash cards, worksheets, etc. But it also literally be ANYTHING else. A recipe would be a way to practice math, and reading can mean anything from a book to a magazine article and beyond.

I can definitely see how that would be motivational for your son or daughter! What would your teen have to do to earn the keys?

Thanks for watching! Gotta say I'm a little confused, though. My event is for the parents of teens, and it's generally mamas who attend.

not a mom but i am a teen and i gotta say that my confidence is at a 2 mainly because of the insanely harsh societal norms of my generation. i really wish my parents would pay attention to me and my problems. my parents know me as a person who can take care of herself but that just makes them believe that i can do EVERYTHING by myself. i believe that parents should pay more attention to their children and make their life more comforting. i would like to hear what your opinions on the matter are though. might check out the interview.

YES. First of all let me say. WHAT a stupid way to phrase a question. And yes there are many reasons. It's really common sense. 1. Social Interation 2. Extracurricular Activities 3. Learning New Things. Some people actually like to learn. Isn't that just surprising? 4. Sense of Achevement 5. Peer Support 6. Preparation for the damn future. What are you gonna do without it? 7. Sense of Independence I could keep going. Don't got all day for such a stupid question.

I don't reward kids for things they are supposed to do anyway. You have to do your homework. You have to clean your room. You have to brush your teeth, take a shower, whatever, you have to do it. If you don't do those things then I get to take away the shit you like, and until they turn 18 I get to keep doing that. Once they turn 18 life will teach them far better than I ever did about what happens when you don't do something you are supposed to do.
@acecookietutoring Жыл бұрын
I agree parents don't need to reward their children with tangible things. The goal is for people, or in my case teens since that's who I work with, become self-motivated. We all know we're supposed to do things, but having a system in place makes it easier to get it done.

@acecookietutoring I have teenagers, and the problem is teenagers and younger children are given too much without earning it. They also get praised for things that are irrelevant and celebrated for things that aren't achievements. Nothing they do is special or unique, and they should know this because if you tell them the opposite, it becomes some bullshit mental health crisis. My 18 year old daughter, for example, was told she could sing by her choir teacher, she believed it, and she is a terrible singer. I told her she was a terrible singer, and she found out after watching a video of her singing. I told her the truth, and her teacher lied to make her feel good about herself, and it ended up making her feel like a fool and that she was used for a laugh. Her little meltdown could have been avoided if people would stop catering to feelings and start telling the truth.

this channel needs to go. you guys dictate how children are raised and constantly speak about them as if they’re a dog that needs to be controlled. very very sad. i just got out of high school and my mother raised me just fine. yeah i did some not okay stuff(same as 75% of teenagers) but i know kids with some of the most discipline and nurturing parents out there that are now in jail. i promise you’re not helping your child, only making it harder.
@StinkyCraig Жыл бұрын
my parents, and all the other people that i know that are parents, have not needed some zoom call/meeting to teach them parenting. this is how you make bad children, by teaching them from a book instead of using your human nature. if you can’t just tell your child that IF they don’t do something they can’t have something else and need some rando system for it, you shouldn’t have children.
@acecookietutoring Жыл бұрын
That's an if/then system right there :) If they don't do this, then they don't get that. I help teens become self-motivated by teaching them if you do this, then you get to do the thing you want (or even avoid that thing you don't want). They go hand in hand.

Pancreas is one of many Weird Al original songs. 80% of Al's discography are originals. Pancreas is what Al calls a pastiche. He studies an artists entire body of work and then writes an original song in the style of the Beach Boys.
