Ever since you made this guide, have you thought of new concepts or have you found new aiming and movement fundamentals worth sharing?
@MrWicked3602 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. To give some background context, one of the reasons I made this video is because I felt as though I was able to see various aspects of aiming/movement that were overlooked or otherwise not explored previously by others, and because of that, I felt that I would be well placed to add value by making a video. There are various subtleties that could be explored in further detail. However, if I was to talk further on the topic generally, I'm not sure that I would be able to add too much value beyond what I have already said. I could probably add a bit more value but not nearly as much as what I had already presented, with the exception of 1 specific area where I think I could add a lot of value. That one specific area I think I could add a lot of value is with respect to soldier v soldier matchups. I think that there are a lot of nuances to that matchup, and I estimate that I could talk for half an hour straight or so about the intricacies of it that I don't think anyone else has understood or attempted to explain before. I don't have the time to produce a big video on it though unfortunately. I've thought about it before, but it took a long time just to make this video between planning out how I was going to present, thinking of what I wanted to cover, finding relevant clips to use and just general editing. I wasn't working on it 24/7, but would do a few hours here and there on it on and off over the course of a month or so until it was complete. I don't think I have the time to do something like that again as I'm not a full time youtube person. I'm a lawyer professionally (although hadn't qualified at the time I made the video), so its too onerous for me to make another video of this nature and not worth the investment. I can give you some general thoughts of stuff I could have talked about though as below: Distance managing with rockets The bombing/chasing soldier is always at disadvantage due to the fact their projectiles have a longer distance to travel as the opponent is moving away, whereas the retreating soldier has shorter projectile distance to cover for a rocket to hit given the opponent is coming towards them. They also have more opportunities to manage distance because they can immediately shorten the distance at any point by moving into the opponent and that is more impactful for the timings of rockets than what the chasing soldier has access to, as all they can do is choose to completely separate and retreat themselves rather than force the distance to close if the opponent is also retreating. Essentially, its better to kite the other person in a soldier 1v1 than to be the one diving forward/trying to pressure. Theres lots that can be talked about with rocket strafing, highground generally, when is correct to abandon highground, how to properly recieve bombs. When you should be going for airshots against other soldiers is also a big topic that there is lots to say about. Generally you don't want to rush and want to ensure they are going to reliably hit (so you actually want to let people close distance on you in the air to some extent), but that will be weighed against the particulars of the scenario. It is sometimes hard to discipline yourself to be patient as it seems counter-intuitive to not shoot. Even in non-aerial situations, however, there are lots of occasions where its better to not shoot and wait for the situation to clarify or otherwise ensure you will be able to time your prediction better on the opponent. Its somewhat hard to describe without examples though. I hope those general thoughts help.

Can we get a section or installment that discusses the mentality when to switch between the scattergun and pistol? The pistol can deal good damage from a distance yet has random spread while the scatterguns center bullet will always hit and can be pretty good mid range. The mentality of knowing when to switch is vital

Amazing video man. Are you a English literature student in school? The video structure and methods you used when explaining things are so well done. But one thing I want to say is that bot maps help with accuracy. As a boxer I can definitely vouch that training on a heavy bag and shadow boxing without fighting an opponent helps a lot. When I started trying to do airshots in tf2 a few years ago I didn’t know how to do it already from having picked it up from playing the game. Because in a pub you get a chance to do an air shot one time every hour on average (however a few years ago pub players weren’t that skilled as today really). That map for soldier and demo where the stationary bots jump repeatedly helped me a ton.

I think you have missed one of the central core points of the video, which is that someone's ability to track you isn't an quality independent of everything else. I.E. your movement will have an effect on, and determine where someone aims on you and consequently you can certainly use that to make people miss.

the best scout guide imo, because most "guides" assume you know how to dodge, and what dodging looks like and feels like. but this guide is full in-depth on HOW to do everything scout needs to do and be good. movement>aim

Y'know i never realised this, i thought that hitscan aim was based on flicks, tracking and muscle memory, I always reacted to the enemy more than predicting him. That's why at times I was better at soldier than at scout.

Ive seen a lot of guides for tf2 and aim theory in my 8 years of tf2 experience. This is an extremely cut and dry but extensive guide. Good job. You dont ramble and you articulate in a way that i struggle with trying to teach people who are just getting into tf2 and arent use to the gameplay loop

@@fles7481I'm probably not the best person to ask. The majority of mine was done by a friend many years ago and I just told him what I wanted. I'm not the best with the config stuff. In my general view, if you've got just the basic necessities of what you want and commands that improve performance, then past that point it isn't going to make much of a difference.

em I could play quake live hello (though the robots here or the terminators are a real lords in terms of skill) Guide is good plus I have an issue with aiming due to... well I mostly don't see my crosshair (its still here but my aim almost fully is tied to combination of observing and instincts/aim patterns against players I played with before. When you pay attention to the enemy player and surroundings it's pretty hard to line up your crosshair with their juicy center for that 90 damage meatshot)
