About 8 years ago, I was at Watkins Glen opening weekend and this car and owner/driver were there. If I remember right it was 292ci Windsor, brodix or Indy aluminum heads, like 14:1 compression, and I can't remember the intake or carb, but they were ridiculous. It would turn 9200 down the back stretch. It had 8 to 2 to 1 exhaust. It created a scavenging effect, that with the ridiculous set up, is how you get those rpms.

Could have stayed a little longer on the throttle before the apex. The Glen is my favorite track on the east coast however Summit Point is a close 2nd.

First past 5000km in a 24-hour endurance race, only 100km behind the 917K's second attempt in 1971 (four years later), one of only three cars to ever pass that milestone before the Group C era, and still the 10th-fastest average speed of any car to EVER win Le Mans. A bit heavy, a bit huge. Maybe not as good an all-rounder as Ferrari's machines. But faster at Sebring and Le Mans and victorious at both, while looking more beautiful than almost _any_ Ferrari. It lives in the shadow of its predecessor for some reason, but it's the cooler car by FAR.
