Have any of you seen this version that someone put the pictures of people during the depression? It looked like true sorrows if I've ever seen it. It was so many people the depression effected.

The first time I heard this band I knew that’s what I wanted to do , was blessed to be able to do it for many years before suffering a stroke February of 2021 and now all I have is memories!-patton wages

The album jacket shown above is Ralph Stanley -- not The Stanley Brothers. This version is not on that LP.

Out of the Bluegrass Boys, Flatt and Scruggs, and the Stanley Bros., I think the Stanley Bros. had the best sound.

tears me to pieces every time i listen to it. i remember the first time i ever heard it, it tore me apart. i found a record of this album at a thrift store for very cheap a while back. i knew who hank williams was and so i bought it. i went home, put it on my record player and played it. when i got to this song, i was stunned. it truly is an amazing, but extremely sad song. Nobody will ever beat Luke the Drifter

I remember in high-school listing to Ray Kennedy, and the local station did request s on Friday nights and 80% of the people who requested a song thought Randy Travis sang this song and " what a way to go" they never corrected the requester so alot of people didn't actually know. Same year I went to a Randy Travis Concert and they asked a woman what song she would like to hear and she requested "Scars" 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

The economy of motion that John had when playing banjo is just crazy. Steady as a top. Also, Tony saying "yeah Flux!" is just peak bluegrass.
