can you make FX sound with this synth ???? like synthi aks .... or analog synth.
@infestedalien7 күн бұрын
You have crazy amount of possibility to create FX sounds on this thanks to the Analogue Prophet 5 filter followed into the digital SEM style filter and having 4 LFO and 2 Auxilary ADSR + Wavetable Envelope for each 3 oscillator. If this was not enough you have a huge mod matrix and above all the synth can be set up to 4 parts with 6 voices if you wish to make a super complex FX :) Of corse all synth are what they are which means they are all individuals and have different character. I have personaly not tested a Synthi AKS so I had to look it up on youtube. You gave me an idea that perhaps I should try out to make FX sounds on my 3rd wave :) Thanks for watching!

Do you have any information that gives an answer to if they are actually different software? I made a ticket for Roland and the support person said there is no difference.
@infestedalien15 күн бұрын
This comment can be answered in several forks as answers let's begin. And sorry I have no information regarding software. (lets speculate) 1. Software can impossible be the same even if they run on same ACB technology since you cannot load a System 8 firmware into a SH-01A or vice versa. 2. I bet the answer was a very easy answer since it would be confidentiental (company secret) to give out this information out from Roland. 3. Since they sound different then they are different but of corse the differences are minor so it's up to everyone to judge what sounds best since everything is subjective in the end. And here is my theory, but who knows the answer: Roland seem to have carefully modeled the SH-01A based on a ACB technology and made some tweaks here and there to have the old good sound but with some extra features. The users that want to stay as near the original as possible but to have nice features as Midi and easy patch management will regard this machine and many has sold their original SH101 for this! or ... put them as display objects while using this machine instead. I personally always pick this one as my favo 101.
@osands15 күн бұрын
@@infestedalien The support rep told me they both run on the same exact ACB model which is software. And of course the software can be the same in both machines. Its software. Ableton live works the same on every machine its loaded on. It might be slightly different to accommodate any minor feature differences not related to sound generation but the sound generation portion of it is the same ACB tech version. I am a software dev by trade for clarification. Maybe you didn't match them like for like? Not sure. Why would they have two different versions of the ACB tech for the boutique as they have in the system 8? You would think that would be a pain to manage having multiple versions of ACB tech for the SH 101 that are in production. Who knows though maybe they are lying to me. Im confused though are you playing the VST controlling it with the system 8 or is the sh101 loaded into the system 8 as a plugout?
@infestedalien15 күн бұрын
@osands which one do you select then?
@osands15 күн бұрын
@@infestedalien I don’t know I don’t have the boutique to test for myself. I have the system 8 sh101 plug out only. I also have the sh4d and the system 8 sounds better than the one in there. But of course the sh4d is not using acb and has different filter topology maybe.
@infestedalien15 күн бұрын
@osands It would be easier to have the sh01a to feel the difference ofc. However the system 8 over all is a very good machine. I personaly would love to see a re issue of that machine with multitimbrality and a more premium keybed. The sh4d seems like a nice machine and i remember they where hard to get for a long time. @infestedalien20 күн бұрын
I totaly agree with you since I also got an OB6! Worth to know is that Take 5 and TEO 5 are awesome thanks to the mod matrix but it's important to know that they are not as characteristic as the Prophet 5/6 and OB6 / Obx8. TEO5 and Take 5 tends to feel a bit missing on the lower end. However! If we see the both synth for what they actually are and do not compare to the giants then both TEO5 and Take 5 can create soo much sounds that the other ones are not even close to produce. The possiblity on the TEO and Take feels almost unlimited and they are lot of fun to program. The double LFO makes a big impact on sound design. My only wish now is to have the same synth but with the Trigon 6 filters! :)

About the Take 5 and the TEO 5. Do you prefer one over the other? I still can’t decide which one to get. I hope you will share your thoughts. Thank you.
@infestedalien5 күн бұрын
@@vliggie I will try my best to describe my feelings regarding owning both of them. Keep in mind that that I also got an OB6 and Prophet 6 and I would say you have the same decision issues there of which is more prefeered over the other. Ok let's begin with the TEO-5 and Take-5. If you have good skills in programming sounds then I think the Take-5 is the best choice since you have more flexibility with the 24db filter there. If you enjoy cool sounds on very little effort then I belive TEO-5 is the nice choice. Another way to see it is like this. If you like "dirtier sound" then TEO-5 is a better choice since Take-5 produces a more clean sound. On the programming part of view I do enjoy Take-5 more thanks to octave switches and the pitch knobs can easily be set to 7 semitone up or down. So this is hard to sum up, perhaps it's easier to say that TEO-5 has the oberheim sound and if you like that it's what you want and the Take-5 has the more of a prophet sound. It's very hard to say I love them both very much, I would go for the TEO-5 for electronic music like EDM and ambient but the Take 5 also do the job very well :) I hope this was helpful! And remember the 12 dB filter can feel limiting in some ways compared to the take-5 24-db self oscillating filter....

I freaking love my Trigon! So creamy and rich! Question for you, since you're using a pedal: do you find the onboard reverb to be really weak? I can't get anything even moderately strong out of mine, and I wonder if that's because I dropped it when I first got it, because it actually is weak, or if I just have tastes that are too extreme... Any thoughts would be awesome! PS. Thanks for making this video - I regularly search KZbin for the latest Trigon videos so I can listen while I work - truly love and feel bonded to mine :)
@infestedalien27 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! I also love my Trigon and it's something extra indeed! I do the same as you watch / listen to synths while I work. When it comes to reverb on Trigon, Prophet 6, OB6 it's perfectly normal that the reverb is not good or let's say as rich as on other synths. When it comes to the drop it's not clear how hard you dropped it or soft. As an ensambler in the electronic industries I think you can feel safe that your internals of the machine should be ok. I think the drop need to very hard to run into issues and that would of corse reveal more as a damage on the outside I belive. Just imagen how many shocks the synths are involved during their transport from delivery when it's inside a box altho the machine is packed in a way that it absorbs the forces but that is a mechanical shock in it's own right also :) However when it comes to sequential and reverbs I want to point out that the internal reverbs are even better on the Take 5 and TEO-5. Reverbs are one of the things we can hunt in eternal for a better one but it all comes down to simulate a room and there are no right or wrong just what suits best for artistic style. I have so many VST reverbs and I tend to use them in different areas so it's always hard to get fully satisfied!
@eusterbro26 күн бұрын
@@infestedalien Yeah it seems weird that only the reverb would be effected, but even at max settings I don't feel like I realllly hear the reverb, and it decays fairly fast... Absolutely fabulous video on building patches. Great narration of what you are doing and why and showing the many options. The video is fine, did not need the close up of the display. With your excellent discussion of your actions improved video wouldn't make a difference. Thank you for your contribution. Just bought a Gaia2 been working with it for about 5 days now, just getting to know its strengths and weaknesses. But as with all synths I will need a year to get to know its greatest sound. Owned the original Gaia for over 10 years, it is on every album of music I produce, and no one can believe the sound I get out of it. The old Gaia needed just a little fullness and soft distortion, so I bought a cheap analog graphic EQ boosted all the octaves and it added just what it needed. The Gaia2 doesn't need that EQ, and has all the modulation that the Gaia was missing, the two Gaia's will live happily in my studio forever.

Thank you for your kind words and valuable feedback! I'm happy to hear that you picked up a Gaia 2 and find it good! What I find remarkable of Gaia 2 is that it fits so well for digital pad sounds that should be a bit more sci-fi sort of. It's also nice to make arpeggios on it thanks to the snappy envelops and the filter puts the sound in a nice place in the mix! Loving the sounds you created! Absolutely epic. Which of the 3 do you recommend most and why? Trigon-6, prophet-6 or OB-6?
@infestedalien6 ай бұрын
Thank you! This is my humble opinion about them three. The Trigon 6 is my favourite because it fits my current music which is electronic, trance and psytrance ambient etc. And also since it has way greater flexibility with 3rd oscillator that can be used as extra modulation source and still have 2 osc left for audio. Also the filter can be set in 24 db and 12 db slope. The prophet 6 is the most versatile and the most cleanest / purest in sound but it comes with a price which would be that its not as fun as the Trigon 6 or OB-6 but hell yeah what beautiful sound the Prophet 6 can do! The OB-6 is very well suited for "special" sounds but it's strictly limited in what you can acheive compared to the prophet 6 and trigon 6. I would say it's well suited for sci-fi vibes and the state variable filter really grabs the harmonics in a pleasent way. I'm very excited for testing the Oberheim TEO-5 in future as an owner of the OB-6 i'm curious how that machine will be different from the one I already have tried out. Here is a filter "dirtyness" ranking from 1 being most able to do dist and "warmth" sounds. 1. Trigon 6 2. OB-6 3. Prophet 6 However, you can't go wrong with any of them since they are soo nice! The only thing to keep in mind is that due to their nature of signal path, the lack of a mod-matrix can make them feel a bit locked but the polymod is very nice and you can make many cool sounds with them! However, their sound are super pure on the other hand! :) Let me know if you have any other questions!

You're welcome. Prophet 5 is different compared to prophet 6 in the way it has a different filter while prophet 6 is a new filter inspired from prophet 5. It's a mono synth without internal FX but according to me it sounds amazing. Even if there is proven that you can make a P5 and P6 sound almost identical in some areas the outcome can also be very different in some perspective thanks to it's prophet 5 filter and also it can be switched between rev 2/3 4 mode. Also an important point is that Polymod on the P5 offers more assignable level which can make a big difference. I have not tried one personally but it's tempting to get one.

Matriarch is a good machine and the analogue delay sounds very good. Not sure what could be a good pick in that case... Prophet 6 is definently worth testing out. But honestly it's very hard to say what can be something that falls in taste. It's all subjective.

Are there any type of sounds where youre like, ok gaia 2 definitely can not do those sounds? If so, are there a lot? For example, most people say the iridium can do anything. But Im wondering if its more like pianos and guitar. You can do anything on a decent guitar and piano that you can do on super experience pianos and guitars.
@infestedalien7 ай бұрын
That question is a bit tricky for me to give a good answer to for the reason I have not used my GAIA 2 enough to get a full picture of it. However If i should describe the GAIA 2 how I feel interacting with it then I can say that the filter is not what I am used to on other synthesizers. It feels smooth and unique to be a digital synth. I would say that it can create many nice sounds but it's not always leading to a direction I expect it to go but thats not a bad thing more of a character of the synth itself. What you are asking now is basically the reason why many end up with owning many types of synthesizers over the years. I think the best thing to do is to search youtube for more videos of it on others patches and listen to factory patches i guess...

Thanks a lot for your comparison and your hard work. I am thinking to sell my Pro-3 and get the Trigon-6 desktop instead because I often want the Pro3 to be a real poly, not just paraphonic. But I am very curious what I will loose if I sell the Pro3 and get the Trigon-6. Do you have an idea what I might miss once the Pro3 is gone? I have other synths (Melbourne Instruments Nina, GS Music E7, OB-6, Summit, Matrixbrute, Odyssey, Monopoly, Minilogue XD, Sub37, Pulse2, Typhon, Erebus, Bass Station2) but the Trigon impressed me by its demos on KZbin.
@infestedalien7 ай бұрын
Thank you! Ok let me take this from what i would miss and why i am keeping them booth. Pro 3 first here we go. Since its a mono it got a signal path made to go from kind to very overloaded this gives alot of character. Mod matrix is crazy which makes me never tired. The 3rd osc as wavetable adds the extra. Sequenser can act as step modulation source. However... the paraphonic is a fun thing with quircks that can be exploited for fun voice rounds. Pro 3 has sort of clear sound character if wanted which is not the same on trigon 6. Now for the Trigon 6, well beside of being a poly it's to me as close as we can get a moog that i wanted all my life that is stable and wont break the bank. I think the trigon is a good candidate for a more pure transistor ladder analogue poly. Ultimately compare your ob6 and pro3 if you feel limited with the ob6 when comparing then you will certainly miss your pro 3... hard choises yes... what do you think of novation summit? Kind of curious over it. Once had a peak but sold it to afford a car purchasr some years ago....

It all depends. I see the System 8 as a workhorse since it's very good implemented in DAW with plug-out. However you will need to buy the plugouts or use a Roland cloud subscription to get them as VST for DAW in order to bounce between hardware and VST. With that said the System 8 is undubtlable the best between them when it comes to efficiency. On the other hand the GAIA 2 is in its own league since it has one wavetable oscillator that is really nice. It's hard to say which one is the best it all depends on budget and what you need.

Same price as a Minimoog so a lot to consider.

Minimoog is nice classic but cumbersome to deal with in music production to swap between patches. I went with Trigon 6 instead. But of corse minimoog has alot of emotional connection and iconic look and feel.

The sound at 5:40 is haunting, I love it. Good stuff, are you willing to share or sell these?

Sorry for a very late reply, thank you so much for showing interest in my patches and the kind words. I have unfortunantly not being considering selling patches tho.
