Because it’s a tradition and they usually haven’t learned more than a few notes. The Middle School I teach music too (choir) ALWAYS has the 6th graders play this at their first concert. You are being forced to listen.

I absolutely love this song, but I have just one problem with my band playing it. We don’t have bassoon for the main Melodie’s of the first and last parts, and bass clarinet that also has that part is only ONE PERSON in our band. We’ve got 1 bass clarinet vs. 30 low brass at the start, but not only that, an extra 30 woodwinds and high brass gonna join in at the end. Turn out that that doesn’t exactly let bass clarinet be heard at all. Like I literally forgot what the melody was supposed to sound like, and I forgot that we had a bass clarinet. P.S. our bass clarinet also has no clue how to play loud
