This series was extremely well done. It did indeed honor the spirit of TOS while also serving as a bridge between where TOS ended and the motion picture series began. It’s everything hardcore Trekkies could have wanted or asked for. Though it may not be considered canon…it should be.

Everybody I know who has seen this series considers it to be canon and to heck with what Paramount says. It is a sequel, not a prequel. But it proves that the people making this show should be in charge of all prequels. I like Strange New Worlds but I have to think of it as an alternate reality. But this show, ST Continues, I can fully accept as part of TOS canon. I would say it is 99% true to TOS and the 1% where it sneaks in something that could not have been done in the 1960s (like one of Kirk's ex's being black) just makes it even better. It doesn't even ignore anything that was canon. It acknowledges why, in that time, a woman could not be a starship captain. In the 1960s, it was considered "natural". By the time of STC, they have enough historical perspective to give a good reason for it: politics. It subtly pushes the ideas a little further but never in a way that ignores TOS canon like the official shows do. I don't know if it could work for a mass audience but then, the thimble audiences that sustain streaming couldn't make it with real network competition. Conclusion: better than any of the endless prequel shows we've gotten.

I consider Star Trek Continues to be the best of the "fan-made" series out there. Watching it felt very much like watching the original series. I got the chance to visit the sets earlier this year and met Vic who is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I shook his hand and thanked him for creating such an awesome series, and we chatted for quite a while. Walking through the sets felt very much like walking through the halls of the Enterprise. Something you neglected to mention is the video is that Scotty was played in the series by Chris Doohan who's the son of James Doohan. Also, Sulu was played by the Late Grant Imahara of MythBusters, and there's a dedication plaque for him on the STC set.

I was quite impressed by Star Trek Continues. I wish they had been able to do more episodes. it seems a little short for completing the 5 year mission. Scene at 03:44 I would have SWORD that somehow they had the original actress who played the female Romulan commander reprise her role. He face, her voise, her mannerisms, ALL exact. Imagine my delight when I read that it was the original actress's daughter taking up the mantle. When I saw they got the ORIGINAL actor who portrayed Apollo, that won me over completely. I have every episode of Star Trek Continues on DVD added to my Star Trek collection. The ONLY other fan film work worthy of a place in that extensive collection is Axanar. This series was a PERFECT homage to the original.

Chris Doohan plays Scotty. Yes as in Jame's son. Notice the gentleman on screen when they mentioned John DeLancie? None other than Colin '6th Doctor' Baker from Classic Dr.Who. Some interesting ideas including one used in Stargate Atlantis. I LOVED Star Trek Continues. Vic Mignogna NAILED Capt. Kirk, he did the best job out of all of them in that respect, but all of them were awesome. And I liked how they tied it in with the beginning of The Motion Picture. TOS just ended, then TMP began and we had no idea what had been going on in the mean-time.
