The fact that this vid has so many views compared to the other drugs says all you need to know about how popular this drug is.

7:40 I don't know where or from which field you've got/utained your doctorate degree, certainly not from pharmachology, chemistry or neuroscience... ergot and ergotamine are two different things.... ergotism is caused from ergot and lysergic acid. Ergotamine, while is a visoconstrictor (as all lysergides are to some degree) was used as a medicine, and still is here and there.... Next... hoffman eas looking for circulatory and respatory stimulant called analeptics .. no migranes was mentioned in his book ... jesus .. blindly saying thinks without really knowing ... Furthermore ... hallucinogens are drugs from class called deliriants (scopolamine, diphenhydramine,...) where you actually think you are talking with someone or group of peuple while in actuallity you are alone. So .. seing visualy convincing objects or people. With classicall psychedelics you see VISUALS ... very different phenomina. Stop being smartass in fields you have no experiance, for such phenomina, you simply have to have them.... books are not enough.

I'd be interested to hear if the statistics say anything about the states where Kratom is legal and where it's not. Could you see anything about more or less opioid addicts getting clean, are there studies regarding that?

What a great video. We need reach-out programs in the trans community to educate about the risks of these procedures. Silicone buttocks injections are rampant amongst trans influencers. They refer to it as "getting pumped" which further trivializes the dangers.

Hi all, at minute 4:21 I state the phospholipid bilayer has hydrophobic non polar heads. This is a great example of the imperfection of memory. The Heads are hydrophilic, and the lipid tails are hydrophobic. Same concept but the heads actually interact with charged molecule/water but the tails keep them out of the cell. Slip of the mind!

It would be a good idea if you can take a look at a Female Doctor in El Salvador basing her main protocols on the use of Ibuprofen for the treatment of her covid patients and also about Argentina using a modified Ibuprofen treatment in the form of nebulizer. .

Great lecture and even better video, well organized and easy to follow. You mentioned BP & SVR often get confused, but does BP have an effect on the amount of SVR you'd feel? (Will hypertension increase Dynes in the arteries?)
@EmPoisonPharmD
@EmPoisonPharmD 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sabo, good question. While BP and and SVR are not the same, SVR is a component of BP. Consider blood pressure to be be the net sheering force between the constricted artery vessel walls (SVR) and the volume of blood being injected into the system (cardiac output). Increased BP could be from an increased cardiac output or from increased SVR or both. So, I guess yes, if your BP is high, it could be because your vessels are constricted (the amount of dynes you feel), or it could be due to a large increase in cardiac output, despite your dynes being unchanged. I hope that clarifies. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for the video. Does NSAID impair the body's ability to heal/ fight infections? For example, the NHS recommends consider NSAID only 48 hours after the initial injury for sprains and strains because it might reduce the body's ability to heal. If they do reduces inflammation and affect the immune response, why are they recommended for fever/ sore throat?
@EmPoisonPharmD
@EmPoisonPharmD 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dickson, all drugs have a risk/benefit ratio. NSAIDS do treat symptoms of fever and myalgia associated with cold, so they can be considered an option in respiratory infections. The question then is, what is the risk and are their other drugs with better safety profiles. Here is a link to an evidence summary surroundings NSAIDS and possible increased risks of complication when using for upper respiratory infection. www.cebm.net/covid-19/nsaids-in-acute-respiratory-infection/ There is some concern that they work too well, by turning down your bodies reponse to infection and allowing the infection to grow for a while before seeking treatment. Many of the studies are not prospective and are at risk for bias (AKA those who needed NSAIDS were sicker already). Additionally many studies look at more regimented use of drugs, as opposed to infrequent occasional use for myalgia and fever. However given the apparent risk, some doctors have recommended using paracetamol, which is usually well tolerated when taken at appropriate doses. If you are concerned, just check with your primary care provider.
