Do you think the lack of quotes was somehow a foreshadowing of how we had an unreliable narrator? Basically those quotes wouldn’t have been real and were only the story Ava was spinning.

I loved Maid and really sympathized with Land. However, in Class, I feel like I got to know her better.. and I did not like what I learned. She is reckless and entitled. There was zero reason why she couldn’t get a better job and go to school part-time, prioritizing the financial-well being of her daughter. But instead, she prioritized partying, casual unprotected sex, and a writing degree. Don’t NOT get my started on her leaving her little daughter with any men as a babysitter. I am definitely judging, and I’m not sorry about it 😬 The one positive thing about the book is that she is indeed a great writer.

I live up in the Adirondacks and unfortunately spring means gloomy, muddy weather. Acccordingly I started reading a compilation of spooky old Shirley Jackson short stories. We Have Always Lived in the Castle is an absolute favorite of mine!

I found interesting that a book made you teary-eyed. I went through this when I read The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. it speaks volumes to me because there's a lot of so many subjects I love: Formula 1, Ayrton Senna, the brazilian racing driver who died in 1994, racing in general and the protagonist who goes through so much struggle. it touches on subjects I don't necessarily believe in, and it does not reinvent the wheel, but I love when I book can really touch your heart and make you feel raw emotions. One that I def. wanna read later on - there's so much on my list right now LoL - is Ego Is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday... i'm not really that into self-help books, but its always good try different things 😄

It's so interesting stumbling on your channel because on my first read through of this series I had absolutely ranked my list the same way you did. However, on my 2nd read through of the series I actually appreciated "A Feast for Crows" so much more and personally appreciated the setup of the Iron Islands (especially Victorian and Euron Greyjoy's characters) and Dorne's importance in its play for the Game of Thrones. Personally my favorite storylines are Jamie & Brienne's relationship, Reek/Theon and Ramsey's relationship(yikes), and Jon & Dany's buildups with their respective stories(Ice and Fire). The Dance with Dragon's novel moved up to my number one specifically because of how exciting the buildup is for literally every single plot point. It is setting up The Winds of Winter to be quite possibly the best novel ever(assuming it gets finished). Anyway, happy reading!

Rhaena is my favorite Targaryen of this era. Such hardship again and again. Her marriage to her brother has them in a scandal right as their father dies and uncle usurps the throne. Aegon dies against Maegor. She’s forced to marry the man who killed her husband. Skipped over in the line of succession for her younger siblings even though she helped put an end to Maegor. Her third husband poisons her friends. Her daughter Aerea died a horrible death. I would be bitter towards my younger siblings getting the life and crown meant for me too. I think she would have been a good queen maybe not as charitable as Allysanne but ruthless when need be but not evil like Visenya. I wish we knew more about Jaehearys and Allysannes older brothers Aegon the Uncrowned and Viserys.

after 4 years to watch this when i finally finished Dance with Dragons. I had started and gave up on it like 3 times but finally with the help of Audible and Stardew Valley i finished it. I absolutely love it.

Dear Kayla. Great video. I'd also like to be able to get Fire and Blood Volume 2 better than Winds of Winter. I think Fire and Blood is Martin's best book in the whole ASOIAF series. It's has a flavor of real history. In regarding to other books, I have read The Kingiller Chronicle book 1 and I liked it a lot. I need to read book 2 and book 3 isn't out yet so there is a lot of space there also.

The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. First book was good. I liked it a lot. Second book seemed like the writer was trying to date his editor or something. Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time) did the same thing with his Perrin/Faile storyline. No writer should ever do that unless the ENTIRE series is a harlequin romance (looking at you, Outlander!) so your readers would know not to pick up the books and get disappointed.

75% and 1200 pages after 12 years. That means we've another 4 years to go for a 1600 page book. Looking at a 2027 release.

I’m recently re-reading the books. I forgot how much the show actually leaves out. But now I can’t stop seeing the show characters in my mind as I read!hoping by the time iodine re-reading, we may have a date for WOW !

I agree with your ranking!! I’m so glad you brought up how much you love the drone plot, I personally can’t get enough of it so I’m sad to see people view it as unnecessary/more bloat to the story. There’s a line at the end of Arya’s chapter right after the red wedding that goes “The axe took her in the back of the head.” I’m sure I would have thrown my book across the room if I haven’t seen the show first, probably one of my favorite chapters in the series!

I loved Maid but stopped reading Class after about 40 pages in. I couldn’t believe her behavior with the men and just leaving her daughter to act like that. Not trying to judge but she’s 35 acting like this and then wondering why things were bad? It was too frustrating to even continue to read. Great review!!!
