t is actually the Imagine Breaker that prevents Touma from using his true powers. And since Touma fights 90% of the time with Imagine Breaker, this means that he spends most of the story nerfed while the rest of the cast gets power ups.

Index was just butchered overall when adapting those volumes, Novel version (volume OT3) was a lot more impactful and the battle was spectacular than in the anime. But tbh this scene came out in 2008-09 while the one on railgun was mid 2013 with better tech (besides this arc in railgun manga is an absolute staple) its expected to be better 🙌

5:32: Touma is right when he told Misaka that she can't defeat Accelerator. Back in Season 2, when Accelerator killed one of her clones, she used everything on him, even her railgun, but he was unharmed. Even he told her did she really think she could defeat him with nothing but electricity. Even I admit that Misaka might be selfish at times and while she does care about her sisters, I don't agree with her wanting to put her own life on the line just for her sisters and trying to be everything for everyone else

Tbh it also doesnt help that he simply doesnt have time for that, on top of him still lowkey believing that he is not a good man that girls look at. For real you can have Index, biri biri, othinus and any other interest literally tell him i love you and he will try to touch them with imagine breaker to see if theres something wrong with their heads🥲living in denial at its peak
