That's seriously brave camping out in a speed trap hide. You definitely went through Lenoir and up to 421East to I-77 South (?).

LOL! We have several Rest Areas that have been abandoned by the state on I-95. Some have been repurposed into weigh stations but there are some that are totally unused. They put up a gate on the entrance but leave the exits open. They could be campgrounds but as you said the noise wouldn't be good.

I live in Tryon and we are so blessed to have all of these places to go for a few nights, or even longer. Within two hours, I ca be anywhere in the mountains of NC, GA or TN. Thanks for the ride along. I'm a fool for a cool, old ride and every time I watch one of your videos, I want a VW van.

That rain gutter screen is a perfect fit to seal up your cold air intake from mice from getting in and with no gaps. It has the perfect bend in the expanded steel. Fun useful project!!

Just found your channel and subbed! 👍🏻👍🏻 Can you set up camp anywhere along that road? For example near the creek/falls you showed? Is that far off the road? My son and I actually tried to check this place out back in 2016 but came to those houses and it was so overgrown I thought it was all their driveway/property and didn’t proceed further. Turned around and headed back home but I’ve always wondered about this area. I’m actually a stone throw away now and drive past that area every day for work and back. There was a small like 2.2 earthquake there early yesterday morning around 2am I guess. We do have black bear around. We have a momma and cub that hangs around just down the road from us, I’ve seen one cross the road ahead of me on my way to work and an older fella further down from me had one in his driveway last Fall. They’ve never bothered anyone that I know of. We tent camp so I’m always a tad nervous though as we woke one night to our tent being ripped through the rain fly and main tent and so we made lots of crazy noise haha and I eventually got out and looked around. Didn’t see anything around. No limbs or anything by the tent so I can only guess it was a bear? I wanted to look for tracks but it started raining just after this happened and before I got brave enough to peek out so we decided to pack up and head on out. We were planning on leaving that morning anyways. Just got a real early start lol and thankfully had a lot already packed up. That was out on Roseboro Road off of Edgemont, where we like to go from time to time. Someday I’m getting me a small camper or van. For now we rough it in the ol tent but I did just get a truck bed tent I still need to set up to see how it is. Will still also take my regular tent but would use the truck tent just for zzzz. Anyways be safe out there and look forward to browsing around your space here. 🙂

Back in the early 90s I worked for a trucking company out of Lexington, North Carolina, J&S Truck Service. We had a sister company out of Mt Airy (can't remember the name now)... Every so often I'd go over to Mt Airy to get one of their trucks to do a California turn.. Nice little town.

That's an area I need to make the left turn when coming down from Blowing Rock and explore, I'm usually headed to Lenior for some reason or going right to Wilson Creek. I had my doubts about the steak seasoned cabbage as you started to eat it.......should've packed some beef hot dogs and cole slaw dressing just in case 😁 Happy Trails and safe adventures.

Man I tell you that’s a much better time of year to go to WC. We camped there a couple times last month and we could barely find a place to park and fish because of so many people swimming lol.. Really enjoy camping at Mortimer and always heard about the cemetery but didn’t quite know where it was at. Great job on the video brother!
