If we had more equipment and full time employees then we could have gotten more hay. We can only accomplish so much in the short windows we had this season.

I have fixed up several skid steers over my lifetime. I remember the old Case skid steers with the cummins engines!

No third cut in southern Illinois, been too dry. 2nd cut was barely with cutting.

We had record amounts of rain but all it did was keep us from getting into the fields. 60+ days between cuttings. Not sure if we are any better off than a drought.

I have done both. Follow the rows and go at an angle. Light cutting I follow and heavy I cross.

They do very dumb stuff. Pass on double yellow with a hill and nearly miss a head on collision just because they can’t wait an extra couple minutes. Even had a school bus do the same thing.

Good video. How long does it take the preservative to work after you spray it? Do the bundles ever "heat" before the preservative dries the hay?

It is active immediately. The preserve we use is mostly made of human consumable ingredients. After the hay cures you would never know it was used.

Fertilizer and insecticide. Army worms were reported to be in the area. They will wipe out a field in a day.
