🐰Her speech: School when I was about five was amazing because I was absolutely top of every class, well, top of my class, and I was reading in front of people and I thought of myself as being unbelievably intelligent. And then when I was six they realised that I hadn't been reading at all, and that my mum, read to me all the time, we had lots of books at home, and I'd memorised them. And it was only when somebody finally gave me a book that my mum hadn't read me that they realised that I hadn't been reading at all, and couldn't read at all. So, when I was six, I went from being the top of the class to the absolute bottom of the class. And I still remember what a shock that was, and I still remember how I saw myself completely differently from that moment

🐰To practice: I think my lyrics have probably changed a bit over time in terms of my vocabulary growing, considering that I started out when I was 19. Definitely read loads more books and stuff like that since then, so I think my imagination has grown and therefore my lyrics have progressed. But, you know, they're always still about the same thing, me and... seemingly my failed relationships, which is crazy 'cause I just don't feel like that, but yeah. Go easy on me, baby, I was still a child, didn't get the chance to feel the world around me, I had no time to choose what I chose to do, so go easy on me. Well, this is from ¨30¨- It was my first single for ¨30¨. It makes me... think about how lost I was when I left my marriage. I wrote the verse to ¨Easy On Me¨ in the shower, then I wrote the chorus later that day and a lot of my friends throughout that rainy period of my life kept saying to me that: ¨You have to go easy on yourself¨, that I have to be kind to myself and stuff like that, you know, and that it's incredibly layered, you know, what I was going through, so that's where ¨Easy On Me¨ comes from, and I love that lyric: ¨I had no time to choose what I chose to do.¨ Another one in the bag. > EXTRA 1. Go easy on [somebody]= informal (be lenient with): Ser paciente/bueno con

🐰 Her speech: Now, I took my very first steps into elected politics as a local councillor in South London. For two years I was the chairman of education authority in Merton, it was an experience I will never forget because I saw how vital good schools and colleges are to a community. How the hopes and inspirations which parents have for their children, and which young people have for the future are bound-up with the quality of education on offer. And here in this fantastic setting, in a building from Derby's proud past, which today is helping to define a fantastic future for the city and county as a part of Derby College, the immense value of good, great local institutions, providing people with an education that truly works for them, is clear.

🐰 Text: 1> HIV does not make people dangerous to know, so you can shake their hands and give them a hug. Heaven knows, they need it. 2> Eating disorders, whether it be anorexia or bulimia, show how an individual can turn the nourishment of the body into a painful attack on themselves. 3> When I started my public life, twelve years ago, I understood the media might be interested in what I did. But I was not aware of how overwhelming that attention would become. 4> It's always been my concern to touch people with leprosy, trying to show in a simple action that they are not reviled, nor are we repulsed. 5> The world is too little aware of the waste of life, limb and land, which anti-personnel landmines are causing amongst some of the poorest people on earth.
