nice video. If you're up for trip to Yorkshire (4 hours drive from Wilshire) There is a nice chalk stream there and I'm a member and can take you as guest angler.

The first trout is a nice wild fish - the wild fish are recognised by their perfect fins, especially the dorsal fin. The stocked trout have in the very least a slight curve on the leading edge of the dorsal fin, and quite often deformed pectoral fins too. The chalkstream that I fish has a good amount of wild fish and they are interesting as they get darker in colour as they get bigger. The little ones look very similar to the one you caught; but by the time they take to get to two pounds in weight, virtually all the wild fish on this river lose their red spots and become olive coloured. By say 4lb in weight they start to get really dark, and by 6 or so pounds they become almost black - they get so dark that you can't distinguish their eyes when viewing them from the bank.

Thanks for the knowledgeable information, Love to catch black brown trout!
very nice looking wild fish at the end there. The last stretch with the rising fish looks like a very nice bit of water to fish as it has nice movement on the surface. Good video!
I fish that stretch on the opposite bank. It's part of my association's 6 miles on the Avon and I too was there a few days in April last year. There are lots of small grayling in that stretch but also some large wild trout in the deeper holes. The best in recent years was 6.5lbs.The water was unusually clear for so early in the season.

6.5lb river brown? It`s a dream fish!

@@haresearfishing It is indeed. It was taken a little downstream of there near Bulford Old Mill. My best last season was one of 3.5lbs taken just below Haxton and I saw another fisherman take one just over 4lbs from Gunville hatch pool. The evening rise approaching dusk is the best time to encounter one of these big, ultra-wary wild fish. We know they’re wild because, apart from their colouring and condition, our keeper doesn’t stock with trout that size, he only stocks where we have both banks so not at Durrington/Bulford and not many of the stocked fish will manage to survive winter.

@@angusmcangus7914 River Test is expensive and big fish are all stocked that`s why I like Avon. Beautiful river!
@angusmcangus79142 жыл бұрын
@@haresearfishing I agree. Our keeper stocks with brown trout in the 1-1.5lb range with the occasional 2lb fish. That gives those who wish to eat some of their catch something to take home if they want. All wild fish go back carefully, regardless of size. Same on the stretch of the Lambourn where I also fish. No rainbows. They don’t belong in an English chalk stream in my opinion.
@haresearfishing2 жыл бұрын
@@angusmcangus7914 They don`t. I used to go to River Wye in Peak District to fish wild rainbows, average size 20~25cm but beautiful fish but otherwise I am not a fan of rainbows.

In the winter on a chalk stream I'd fish grayling from 1100-1530. In my experience fish come 'on' to take around the warmest time of day which is about 1330 -1430. Once it starts getting dark after about 1600 you might as well stay at home and be fishing in the bath!

You are right but it`s was too expensive to fish for just a few hours. Still a nice day out. Thanks.

@@haresearfishing I understand, of course. I’m lucky to be a member of two fly-fishing associations, one on the River Avon, the other on the River Lambourn and being retired I have the luxury of being able to fish whenever I want and so choose the most suitable weather, time and water conditions.

素晴らしく美しい場所ですね。でも、どことなく日本に似ています。私は日本の埼玉県で釣りをしています。 Beautiful place. This place look like Japan. I am also fishing in Saitama Japan.
I too fish the river Avon, because the river Test is too expensive. Tight lines 👌🎣
