Thanks for sharing. We have two east/west NS lines in Monroe County, Michigan along Lake Erie and a NE/SW line as well. The NE/SW line was the former Wabash line that carried the famous Wabash Cannonball.

When I was a kid, me and my friend would put pennies on the track. We wouldn’t have wasted nickels and dimes, because we could get a candy bar with a nickle and a glass bottle of Coke with a dime. There was a crossing not too far from home that still had a hand-cranked crossing gate. There was a booth with a guy that sat there all day just to put the gate up and down. We put a couple pennies on the track within eyesight of the guy, and he came running out chasing us away, hollering that we would derail the train. Which we believed for quite some time after that. I’m sure he just didn’t want us thinking it was ok to do, because of course if you put larger objects on the tracks it could be dangerous.

@ontheroad5317 I grew 30' away from the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina railroad tracks in Elizabethton Tn. I put coins and sometimes maybe a hot wheels car on the tracks. Thanks for the comment, and thank you for watching.
