Why did smoke appear only at 1:28? Were the locos not at full power before that?

I dont understand why the heavy black smoke happens when the RPM seems to sound the same. I dont notice a sound of a change in load or RPM. Why the smoke ? ( i understand that dark smoke = unburnt fuel / not enough air )
