Hi i have 1/8 Mercedes Deagostini with this engine. But my engine dont have compression, the new engine price is very horryfic. Where i find another lower price engine, to put in the car ?

I know this is an older video but roughly where is your LSN set it at with these engines? I have one and the manual says 1.5 turns out from fully closed. I find this to be way way way too lean, the engine won't even run at this setting.

Awesome cooling head collection. I have a couple of the Nova race pro, in my opinion best aftermarket head made. They actually Wick the heat out of the engine. With a laser thermometer I have checked on several engines and centimeter from the block the temperature is higher then the top of the block itself on the Nova heads. I have tried several different, one being crazy nut I believe? It actually made my engine run hotter, and it was very heavy. I am not a physicist or mechanical engineer, but I have noticed the density of the aluminum makes a difference on how the cooling head pulls heat from the block. I'm in kentucky, and it can get very humid here sometimes in summer, and the Nova Pro keep my engines a minimum of 30° cooler.... the new lrp spec for design cooling heads work almost as well as the Nova Pro, so I bought a few of those to modify and put on all of my 4-bolt engines.... if you have any suggestions, or if I'm making a mistake doing this, your feedback is most definitely wanted...

Just now seeing this video, I love these engines. In my opinion, they are not good for really high RPM, not balanced well enough. However, they do make great power up to around 38- 40,000? I'm assuming? By the sound that is, since I don't have a way to measure the rpms. From the way that cooling head looks, I thought, might be a crack there somewhere.... I use the cheapest/lowest grade bolts I can get on my engine mounts, for that very reason. Would rather have to bolt the engine back on than have to replace the block...:-( have to say you make great videos, nice to see someone on here, that actually knows what they're doing, and talking about, and giving good advice. There are way too many people making, and posting videos that do not know what they are talking about, and misinform and confuse the people that are on here looking for real information, trying to learn how to do things the right way. Sometimes I'll even post a question on a forum that I already know the answer to just to see what people say. And every time I would say 7 out of 10 people tell me something that is completely wrong, or could even destroy my engine in some cases.We need more people like you making videos. I wish I could, but I work too many hours, and I am not a people person. So... thank you, keep doing what you doing.... D.B.

Nice. I can see that working. A little fine tune to this method of yours may be to leave a little film of oil in the cylinder when checking the new pinch with the piston, and while heating. I think the small amount of oil will help the molecules better while heating and when test fitting the piston. How long does your new pinch last when you do them as good as you can sir?

I believe the PT21AO has the same "C.W.C." tech as well. -- Same part numbers for the crankcase (TE2019H-2) and crankshaft (TE2017C). Although the piston/sleeve part numbers are different. (TE2031KA for the new PT21A1, TE2031B for the PT21A0) Not sure what, if anything, is different other than cooling head color.

@Ddraig62SPDАй бұрын
Nice overview Todd :) I've had the exact same model in my loft for almost 9 years after my neighbour gave it to me in exchange for an old petrol lawn mower! I unpacked for the first time it today and it seems to be the full RTR package with the G12 engine/accessories and Kyosho TX/RX combo. As an added bonus it's in 'as-new' condition aside from a few dabs of residue on the chassis after the previous owner tested out the engine :) The problem for me is that I've never used a nitro system before. My first experience with any type of gas-powered engines was about 50 years ago when my old man and myself built a control line plane .... it was a PITA and didn't end well :( Likewise, my gas-powered RC helicopter project in the late 80s never left the ground after issues with the engine. :( I've only ever had one RC car in the past; an old brushed electric Tamiya Thunder Dragon 4WD RC kit from back in the 80's ... which I took in part exchange for the failed helicopter project! The kit worked perfectly and it was fun both to build and drive. I still have it but, after unpacking it from the loft today, it seems that the the original Futaba transmitter unit is dead so I need to find a cheap compatible Tx or replace the old radio system with a modern digital RC setup. This should be straightforward. I've also been building & repairing drones as a hobby for over a decade so I'm well experienced in LiPo/Li-Ion powered electronic RC systems. I love soldering ;) Based on the above my gut says stay away from nitro or gas-powered sytems as (i) I don't need top performance/handling as I'll only be tooling around in local parks and in rural spots where I fly my drones in the UK, (ii) I don't want anything too noisy, and (iii) I want something clean, quick & convenient to use, like a drone (I can't really be doing with the hassle of debugging engine problems or having to carry and clean-up fuel). SO ..... my dilemma with my Kyosho is whether to (a) convert it to brushless electric (sacrilege!!!) if it's even possible, or (b) sell it in its original vintage condition and buy a modern RTR brushless truggy 😕 To be honest I'm toying with the latter option but would welcome any advice from an experienced RC connoisseur like yourself, Todd. Many thanks and apologies for the long comment ;) Steve
@NitroTalkwithToddАй бұрын
If the only options are a and b, I would have to recommend b. Converting would probably require some fabrication as dedicated parts don't exist. And I personally, agree that it deserves to live out it's life unmolested. I certainly understand the noise aspect. They won't allow me to run my nitro vehicles in any of the local state parks. That leaves me the option of parking lots(a flip on pavement has scratched up many nitro cooling heads) or drive to the nearest dedicated RC track(about an hour for me) Having said that, I still get enough satisfaction to make it worthwhile to me. The challenge of learning nitro engines kept me interested, and the sense of accomplishment finally training my ear and mastering the needles. I think you should go with option c. At least give it a shot. There are plenty of instructional videos these days, the information is out there. It usually ends in one of the two ways. You get bitten by the bug and want to learn more and more, or you get frustrated and vow to never touch another. You can always revert to a or b at a later date... Good luck and the thanks for watching!
@Ddraig62SPDАй бұрын
@@NitroTalkwithTodd Many thanks for your encouraging reply Todd. I can imagine the great sense of achievement and satisfaction when you realised that you'd 'cracked the nut' with nitro systems. It took me many years to almost reach that stage with my drone builds and even now it's tough just keeping up with the latest technological improvements. It's all-consuming!! I live in relatively isolated part of the UK with no RC tracks close to me so I'll be limited to driving RCs at random quiet locations for a bit of fun & relaxation ... this suits me fine as I get more than enough exhilaration from the drone flying ;) Despite being retired I have so many hobbies and interests that I really don't think I could find time to invest in getting to grips with the nitro side of things (let alone finding suitable outbuilding space to work on engines all year round). Based on this I'm afraid that option (c) is just not going to be practical for my circumstances. I've been looking at option (a) and did find an aluminium motor mount for a nitro to electric conversion but it was for a 1/8 scale Kyosho, so I'm not sure whether it would be suitable for the 1/10 scale Kyosho Ultimate ST chassis. I'll do some more digging and will research whether it's possible to source and retrofit the chassis from the EP version of the ST, although I expect that options are likely to be limited given the age of this vintage model ... in which case option (b) will be the default so I'll get ready to prepare my 'for sale' listing to give the model some longevity in it's natural state. Again, thanks for your advice. Keep up the good work on the channel :) 👍

Hey Todd, What pipe/header is this on your hyper 7? I got a hyper Vs and it doesnt have much clearance between the header and rear arms like this model too. Im looking to see if a double bend header will work. I would ideally like to find a header that has more clearance like this one.
